We do look at things through our own lens. I’d like to know what lens Remainer politicians are using in their flagrant attempt to overturn a national referendum and promises made in a general election. I’m assuming their lenses are as crooked as a snake with colic.......

One would imagine it's the same lens they looked through when deciding that remaining in the EU would be the best course of action. There are various things in life that are probably quite personal, yet one would hope you have a degree of evidence to back them up, whether through personal experience, external evidence, or both. It's hard to imagine someone who thought an open, tolerant and outward looking country that was a willing participant in international bodies is going to change their mind after a referendum that has prompted the government to hit out at migrants, paint the EU as enemies whose governance we should obstruct if given the chance, and offer no real vision or strategy for anything else.

Had a Brexiter come out and said we will leave the EU because we want to be even more open, to participate even more in the international rules-based order of things, and so on, then that gives liberal voices in parliament something to hang their hat on. Instead, we've got the ERG tail wagging the dog in an extremely illiberal (and often illiterate) direction.

And yet Brexit does exactly what you want, a more open country to more nationalities, and more participation and interaction with the rest of the world......so why did you vote to remain ?.......

That’s just an opinion. They all had their vote, just like we all did, they just don’t like the result....

If the last few years have shown anything Pete, it's that Brexit means a fairly infinite number of things. The referendum certainly didn't provide any clarity, so it was up to the government to define what Brexit actually meant, then try their best to negotiate that with the EU. They did that, with the exception that they didn't ask parliament whether they agreed with their definition of Brexit, and when barely anyone did, they looked a bit silly.

On what grounds do you believe any of that will happen? From memory, every utterance of the government has been in the opposite direction.

@peteblue has nothing to back it up. There is nothing on show to suggest this will make the country any more open. There is (a misguided argument) it could have done, but there is nothing to suggest it now will do

have you got anything to back this ^^ up ??

i'll give you a clue …. you cant have, because nobody knows what will happen post Brexit.

one thing is for sure, we will HAVE to become a lot more welcoming to worldwide nations reagrds trade deals and that might lead to other deals including taking more of their nationals etc etc etc…

it will make us a lot more diverse, not just a European state.

Not sure why we'd have to accept any country's cast offs just to get trade with them, dont you know we are GREAT Britain?! Every country in the world will want trade with us and be glad for it!

So no chance we take anyone...Country's full mate....no room for 'em blah blah blah etc etc

That the levels of support for ERG, Johnson, and general associated right wingers has grown. There has been no appeal to the greater welcoming to the world, no suggestion that we will increase our immigration. Nothing. If @peteblue is going to say it’s going to become more diverse he has to show some evidence or research why.

Tired of this ‘no one knows’ - lots of very intelligent and very skilled people have modelled this. It might not be right, thankfully most experts don’t maintain they are definitely right, but to suggest it’s a leap into the unknown is nonsense

How do you know ? You have lepped nowhere yet.

We have not left the EU so untill we or if we do it's just guess work .....

Again, I answered that. It is not guess work. If you do believe everything is guess work then why the hell did you vote out? You would threaten the stability of a country and a continent on a guess? I don't even do my £1 accumulator on a guess, and I'm fine that that'll fail.
It is not foolproof but people consider possibilities, be they human actions, market forces, racist little bigots waiting to stir up hatred, immigration patterns, and then put in place actions based on this. It's not guess work, and if it was for you, then this explains completely why we should not have the nonsense of referendums.
