*sigh. I'll ask again Joe, and do please provide some evidence as that is what I'm asking for. Do you have any evidence that there being no checks on people travelling between France and Germany has had any negative effect on crime in those countries?

For sure, but I don't think it's either right or effective. We live in an age of supposedly evidence-based policy making, and have clear evidence from allowing the free movement of people versus government control over the movement of people, yet people are ignoring that evidence so they can play dog whistle nationalism.

I can see how allowing you to move elsewhere runs the risk of turning that place into a cess pit Frank, but thank you for your contribution of stating the obvious.
I made no comment on this point. As someone who favours free movement and has worked in support of Refugees and Asylum seekers you can probably ascertain my veiws lol

But what I will say is the Government Immigration Bill 2014, was completely at odds with the Equality Act 2010 in so much as it forced Landlords, who aren't exempt from S3, unlike Government ministers and Border Officers, to check the right to rent of tenants, to apply a test which is illegal, by virtue of being racist, under the Equality Act.

Government has lost the legal case regarding the 'hostile environment' Right to Rent scheme from the 2014 Immigration Bill.

The government basically failed to conduct any test for discrimination based or nationality or actually even monitoring the scheme.

The HO tried to suggest that the fault lay with landlords rather than them. That if the pilot was leading to discrimination, it wasn't their fault, it was due to discrimination by landlords. This was rejected

The judgement is scathing about the scheme and the 'hostile environment'.

Given that the government policy has caused significant harm and was effectively engineered to do so, coupled with everything related to Windrush - there should be a public enquiry into it. Especially as we are set to 'take back control of our borders' under Brexit.

A truly awful set of people running this country.

There's probably a good dissertation premise in there somewhere.

is there a nation that operates a free pass for everyone ??? and how does that nation fare ?

@Bruce Wayne
Ancient Greece, which I suppose serves as the foundation of modern democracy and civilisation, regarded free movement as a marker distinguishing liberty from slavery.

Almost all of the great civilisations through history have encouraged and thrived through immigration. Ancient Rome, China, Africa and South America.

It was only under laws of Chattel and Slavery that free movement became much more limited.

You didn't need a passport until the outbreak of the first world war.
