@Armel

winning all the hearts and minds in Wigan there ; )

Ever since Wiggins made the pie town his home they're mad for cycling. I'm sure the town is abuzz for the Primavera, with the good folk of Rotherham cheering on Ben Swift.

I assume that's very clever and biting, but 'Rotherham' was about the only bit I understood :P

Bradley Wiggins lives in Wigan and is a cyclist. Primavera is the race the bloke with the sign is referring to. Means spring in Italian, and the Milan Sanremo is the first of the spring classics, always being raced on the first weekend of spring (hence the name). It's on now and is very exciting. Nothing either clever or biting. I'm away for work so following the race via text updates and pining for the patient majesty of a six hour bike race. It has the lovely qualities of a test match as it slowly unfolds.

well that all sounds lovely, but as the in-house pseudo-intellectual emetic who's actually thick as [Poor language removed], I make it a point to
only take note of the 'foot....... *checks notes* .......ball'.

Nothing awkward about it the border stays open - as it is now with different currency, different Vat rates , and different taxes ..... the EU blew this up thats why a free trade deal should have been high up in negotiations......
Only the EU sized upon this to spoil any Trade deal - other non EU countries have borders .......Switzerland have many no EU country.....
we don't want a hard border nor does the whole of Ireland only the EU banged on about this..... as they knew it could stop Brexit......

lol

And if you believe that you’ll believe owt, Joe.

Oh hang on you do....that’s why you voted Brexit :p

As I have told our good chum Peter on several occasions.....it ain’t the EU stopping Brexit.

It is the unholy alliance of the DUP and the ERG which stymied the first May deal and has left us in this mess.

Otherwise you would have been leaving the EU next weekend and Ireland, north and south, would have had their own arrangements which take into account the unique political circumstances on the Emerald Isle

And that’s the long and the short of it, old pal :)

But if Britain ever get around to leaving the EU it will adopt EU laws. Any changes to the law on environmental matters will have to be passed through parliament. Do you really think that parliament will pass a law to reduce environmental standards because some rich lick is threatening to close a chemical plant?
Absolutely.

Absolutely.
You do realise you first need a majority in the commons, and then you need to get it past the Lords too. I honestly cant see more than 80-100 right wing Tory MPs even giving this motion the time of day. Absolutely no way the current parliament would pass such a bill. The environment is one of the most politically sensitive subjects around.

The Division wouldn't be on 'Should we lay waste to the planet?'.

Wow really?!?! I had no idea!!!

This changes everything, it'll never pass.

Not like this Government has recently celebrated 200m worth of investment from gas and oil in the UK, not this Government that asked MEPs to vote against EU legislation to introduce tighter control of car emissions, not like this Government to vote against private housing being made fit for human habitation, not like this Government to scrap solar subsidiary, scrap subsidy for wind farms, sold off their green investment bank (albeit they introduced it), ditched the Zero Carbon homes scheme, has allowed fracking then allowed fracking on sites of special scientific interest.
