Don't like the man and his party, but he talks sense and reality...

I don't think anyone would argue that there are problems with the EU but it seems to me that just 'taking the ball and going home' is a rash and dangerous solution. No one wants to salute the EU flag or sing the EU anthem. I've never met anyone who considers themselves European ahead of their respective nation. This will not happen, and if it does, maybe that's the point to consider withdrawal.
Basically, there's a large trading block and if you want to be part of it, you have to play by the rules, rules you get a say in creating. That video is 5 or 6 years old and I fear, in the mean time, there was nothing the EU could do to convince the likes of Farage that it was worth staying. His brand of fervent nationalism belongs in the twentieth century.
British independence day, give me a break!

You're misquoting here. We never said it was guaranteed that we would enter the free market and therefore free movement, we said if we do enter the free market then that will inevitably include free movement as the two go hand in hand.

You also said that Johnson's article was going to cause a storm amongst leave voters; I think I must have missed that. The Guardian article posted above refutes Johnson's article, but that's because they disagree with Johnson's current stance that free trade without free movement is possible.

It's obviously as valid today as it was then. More than 17 million thought so...

It's featured pretty much top of the agenda in lots of news outlets. There was lots of debate on TV programs today about Johnson's realisation that he couldn't affect immigration if he wants to remain in the free market. There's no point is discussing this any more though, I suppose we will see.

In the meantime, our economy is falling apart and the leavers are turning a blind eye under the pretence that it'll all be alright soon. I bloody hope so.

there's no doubt he has a point, Europe is half way on the road to somewhere, but no one seem to know where, but it can and does a lot of good also and throwing the baby out with the bathwater is not the solution. Europe is going to have a major impact on lives in the UK one way or the other, this feels like a massive opportunity to shape Europe, wasted

Johnson has had no such realisation. He claims it is possible within the article in question. The below article is all about disagreeing with Johnson's belief that it is possible:

I think everybody, regardless of how they voted, need to realise that the huge battering our economy has taken in a few days is scary. It's huge.

It's no use turning a blind eye and saying it will all be okay soon. How soon?

Hell of a spot Boris is in. Jump off an economic cliff or explain to all the leave voters they won't be stopping immigration.
The mayhem caused by the uncertainty is bad enough.

Your right, they did and I think there's a herd mentality that is just part of human nature. It was more a reference to preying on the fears of the most vulnerable to further a political goal/nationalist ideal.
Your mind is made up and thats fine but I'd be very cautious about holding Farage up as a roll model for a sensible Brexit argument. He's a one trick pony who trades in fear to achieve a short term goal with no concrete foundation in nation building. He's a puppet trotted out by half the tory party to do their dirty work.

So the company I mentioned that I am associated with decided today to build its data centre in Germany not UK.

They also decided to move software development at the same time. Net loss of 42 jobs plus the investment required to build the data centre.

So let's see on the leave side we have the poor, the middle classes, the priced out, the disenfranchised, the silenced majority.

On the remain side we have wee Jimmy cranky some students and (surprise surprise) foreigners (London vote). A rag tag motley crew if ever there was one.

And you're sure that they would have reached a different decision with a Remain vote?
