I disagree; in fact I'd be absolutely amazed if there werent Tories going around right now speaking to the anti-Corbyn group and some others on the opposition benches asking what they would need to support a deal, starting with a different PM.

Imagine that, sections of a fractured and largely dysfunctional governing party trying to cut a deal with sections of a fractured and largely dysfunctional opposition in a scenario where both leaders are usurped and ousted... utter chaos.

If this fails for Labour they cannot call it for another 12 months, right? I’d like to think they wouldn’t call without being very confident, but I just seen the DUP have announced they’ll back her. Disappointing to say the least we will probably have the Tories for at least another year.

We can't be shocked that the DUP will continue to prop May up can we ?

With that defeat, May should do the obvious and resign immediately.

She won't as she has no dignity left, but she really should be doing it.

Re: the confidence vote - Corbyn had no choice. He'll lose it but he had to call it.

Why not? From their point of view, this is a golden opportunity to get rid of her as PM. They can vote against her, get rid of her, then reform a government with someone who does hold the confidence of the house. A vote of no confidence does not automatically result in a general election.
Do you honestly think these people will put country before party and there own self interest? Can you honestly see the DUP doing anything that would benift Labour so much?

I'm well aware that a vote of no confidence wouldn't automatically trigger a general election but the split that would inevitably come from a no confidence vote would almost certainly lead to one.

In any event, who would they replace her with? The only reason she has the job is because she was the compromise candidate and its the same reason she's safe imo.

Nope, they can call for a vote of no confidence at any time (the 12 month thing is for the Tory leadership, though even that only refers to the Tory leadership and not the PM which is and has always been based on who has the confidence of the House).

The problem with this is that she's given no indication she is going to do anything different, so unless you actually want her deal any other alternative - 2nd ref, customs union, anything at all including no deal - she has to go.

Total waste of time innit.

Corbyn’s only “tactic” throughout this imbroglio has been “we need a general election”.

He is as hapless as May is.

Hopefully this brings down the curtain on his tenure as Labour leader.
Shot his load too early hasn't he. Should have held on until he had a chance of winning it. This has only ever been about one thing for him and that is gaining power. If only he was a Remainer and was advocating a position which represented the majority in his party he would have had the governnment by the short and curlies.

On the other side the UK wide backstop has wrecked May's deal. If she wasn't dependent on the DUP to cling to office there would have been an NI only one which most would have settled for. It is also about clinging to power for her.

No wonder this is such a mess when none of them are prepared to put the interests of their country before their own.

14 days isn't a feasible time scale for the tories to find a leader who can command the house. It's completely unrealistic to think the tories can topple May tomorrow, somehow bring themselves out of disarray, and find a new leader in under two weeks.

If May loses tomorrow there will be an election. That's why she is never going to lose.

To be honest, Tim.....if I was a Brexit Tory I would relish a GE..

Corbyn should be miles in front in the Opinion Polls but because the sleekit wee get has offered nowt to the debate from the getgo beyond call for an election he is unlikely to get he trails May (that takes some doing :() and I reckon he would be trounced at the Polls.

With one bound the Brexiteers would be free of the “enemy” within their own tent and no longer beholding to the DUP.
