To be honest, Tim.....if I was a Brexit Tory I would relish a GE..

Corbyn should be miles in front in the Opinion Polls but because the sleekit wee get has offered nowt to the debate from the getgo beyond call for an election he is unlikely to get he trails May (that takes some doing :() and I reckon he would be trounced at the Polls.

With one bound the Brexiteers would be free of the “enemy” within their own tent and no longer beholding to the DUP.
If the Tories got the right leader they will walk it, problem being who would that be?

Strange days indeed, as John Lennon once said. I can't remember a PM losing a vote like that and not instantly resigning. What a complete mess. The only way out of this is going to be either leaving with no deal, or a referendum for Remain or Leave with no deal. At least that way if the turkeys vote for Christmas again they will have done so in the certain knowledge that we are jumping over the cliff.

Shot his load too early hasn't he. Should have held on until he had a chance of winning it. This has only ever been about one thing for him and that is gaining power. If only he was a Remainer and was advocating a position which represented the majority in his party he would have had the governnment by the short and curlies.

On the other side the UK wide backstop has wrecked May's deal. If she wasn't dependent on the DUP to cling to office there would have been an NI only one which most would have settled for. It is also about clinging to power for her.

No wonder this is such a mess when none of them are prepared to put the interests of their country before their own.

You think that he shouldn't have called for a vote of confidence when the Government has just lost by 230 votes?

I've never known a PM like her, 230 votes against the shambles of a brexit deal she's tried to blackmail the nation into accepting, and still she clings on and won't go.

Any proper self-respecting PM would say I've tried my best, I'm stepping aside, goodnight.

ive never seen so much desperation to cling on to her post.. shes tried , at the expense of the country to keep her job, the utter stupidity of it is beyond me.

absolutely shamefull behaviour and a total waste of the last two years... but at least she goes down in history as leader of our country for 2 plus years

Indeed.

Ditto Labour....if they had a decent leader they would walk an election.

Never in my lifetime has such a shower of useless, self serving, publicity whores on both benches infested our political system.
Which is the reason I voted Remain. I'm no fan of the EU, and I think MEPs are a waste of money. But I knew there is no way that any of this shower could negotiate their way out of a paper bag, or help the country to reinvent itself if we left on WTO terms.

If this fails for Labour they cannot call it for another 12 months, right? I’d like to think they wouldn’t call without being very confident, but I just seen the DUP have announced they’ll back her. Disappointing to say the least we will probably have the Tories for at least another year.

....do Turkey’s vote for Christmas? Surely there’s no way Labour win this vote of no confidence. Unfortunately, I think they have backed themselves into a corner where they will ask for a 2nd referendum.

I’m a remainer but I wouldn’t want another vote. The way forward is a solution that will achieve a majority in the House, and that is remaining in the Customs Union and Single Market.
