350 bollock heads on that buslol
I was talking to a lad last night who works in processing asylum claims , he was chatting about the logistics of leaving and the prospect of no deal. The numbers he thinks UKBA would need to recruit just to stand still are staggering. they’re looking to recruit an additional couple of hundred , I presume locally but it was a bit of a party so quite loud and I was obviously drinking , but he seems to think ten times the number would be required just to keep it ticking over .
This is getting silly now. Threatening to block food supplies to Ireland shows how desperate the Brexiteers are and that they will stop at nothing to get their way.'give up the GFA or we'll starve ya, don't tempt us, we did it before...'
Don't worry Mark, it's another Brexit fantasist flailing in every direction immediately prior to implosion. I actually laugh at them, their mad statements and their utter determination to take us back to the days of Empire. This is getting silly now. This woman must be thick to even to contemplate such a thing given that last time it happened it resulted in one million deaths. A totally brainless and insensitive suggestion. You'd think a person of Indian origin would know better.
I was wondering how long it would take before something like this cropped up!

Yes good point. She obviously doesn't engage her brain before she opens her mouth. So they don't let food /Goods through,
only one problem with that , what about the businesses that are selling the food / goods they don't have a customer or income how do they think that will play out?
Works both ways trade normally.
think a Tory would know that.
It's mad mate really is , this lot on both sides think we are fkn daft wish they would grow up and stop talking balls.Yes good point. She obviously doesn't engage her brain before she opens her mouth.

There has been a load of figures saying the affect on the UK of no deal , but no figures from the EU side when anyone with common sense would know it's a two way street, the German business leaders have put a few out but nothing else, they mention Ireland , Holland and Belgium, Germany.
On another note see the EU have brought forward a tax of 3 percent on the likes of Google /Amazon based on Ireland , going to cause trouble that if it goes through.
thanks mate, good info. There are plenty of figures for all those countries involved. They were released earlier; now you won't see them probably because the main news is about preparing for hard Brexit (e.g. the Netherlands are preparing to take on a legally questionable-too much power for the minister involved I think it will be amended- law giving all sorts of discretionary powers to the services involved). In absolute percentages it's not that bad.
If you want some figures I can provide them. Belgium will be hit quite severe by hard Brexit; depending on who says what; the 3th of 4th most. Quite logical we're just across channel, 2.5 hour train ride and you're in London (unrelated but this is also the reason why West-Flemish contains quite a few English words; horse; normal Flemish: paard; West-Flemish orse). You have Brexit preparation committees at the federal level and regional levels focussing on hard-brexit. Started somewhere in 2016, but I'll take the latest figures.
A hard Brexit would most likely cost between 28.000 and 42.000 jobs (so worst case scenario -0.92 percent of available jobs), spread over 16.000 companies (the British export market is worth 7-8 percent of our total export- 4th most important trading partner, equally Belgium gets 5 percent of our imports from the U.K; 5th biggest import partner; could potentially cost -2.2 GNP; or less but I've taken the worst case scenario here for maximum impact).
These are quality figures since most studies only use figures that are based on direct trade between the countries, and don't take into account indirect relations (e.g. Belgian steel that is used to make German cars) but that's equally important.
So as a result Flanders has prepared the "(hard) Brexit Actionplan", it's basically a Brexit help-desk (and stationing experts in the U.K. and in Belgium)+ offering help to tap into other markets with the FTA. And starting the 7th of January there will be a Brexit roadshow (I kid you not, actual name), going through the country, focussing on custom formalities that will have to be observed when exporting to the U.K. As said there are still some problems since it's unclear if our producers of medical isotopes would still be allowed to deliver medical isotopes to the U.K. (legally it's not so clear; they're hoping to fix that on a European level later on). Basically a more expensive version of what they've done after the sanctions against Russia. Also a very expensive joke that since it's a big trading partner. Lately it's okay though; they have started avoiding the sanctions. E.g: selling Belgian pears in Russia as African pears (sometimes from countries where you don't even have pears). Quite clever.
This the federal rapport https://economie.fgov.be/nl/file/6953/download?token=f5cQeTxM (it's a summary), from the appointed ministries etc. That's mainly about opportunities arriving after hard Brexit and how to mitigate the losses. So the big lines containing the measures where our economy has a comparative advantage and how to recuperate the Brexit losses by "attacking" the British market share after Brexit (in effect 170 product groups; things like Cacao, textile; - The Brits will lose that market share, so that becomes available for nations with access to the internal market. An example; The British export of Cacao and carpets to the rest of the EU, between 2014-2016 was 610 mil € and 204 mil €; after a somewhat hard brexit the Brits would become uncompetitive after having tariffs (or worse) slapped on them. So that's up for grabs.
Other Belgian regions also have a similar plan but they are quite irrelevant since they do little trade, with the U.K. And then there's off course the E.U that have pledged to hand out money to the regions that have been hit the most to recuperate the losses.
The Netherlands have a comparable, more thorough if I'm honest preparation, they will be hit harder though. They are claiming they can be become the new centre for European financial trade (we'll see I suppose), after Brexit. The looming Brexit already has resulted in some shifts though in the European market; for figures see on the website of the Dutch banking authority.

she is thick, I think she was the one campaigning for the return of the death penalty and got embarrassed on question time by ian hislop. I think most of here realise that for a lot of tories humans are simply a variation of fuel, to be treated without compassion or empathyThis is getting silly now.
