Or is this just a lazy stereotype your using , your better than that mate, why not just call older white folk hammys or something its not racist because they voted Brexit its fair game isnt it?

Well firstly, it was lighthearted based upon the sheer amount of OAPs surrounding Mogg. Secondly, this is a constant comment by certain folk on this thread that literally any attempt to actually understand who leave voters are, and what they want/ed Brexit to be is rubbish because they personally weren't asked or that they don't fit the picture created by these attempts.

It belies the fact that there is no policy in history that can be all things to all people. Companies may be able to customise to that extent, but governments typically haven't, so instead they try and do what benefits the majority of people. In Brexit terms, that requires understanding who the majority of leave voters are, and what the majority of leave voters want from Brexit. Now the best way we have of doing that right now is through the kind of polls that are dismissed, just because people don't like the fact that they return a suggestion that the majority (not all - the majority) of Brexiters are older people, living outside of cities and with fewer qualifications.

Now I know reality and leavers often have a love/hate relationship, but I'd love to know what you seriously think is a better approach to understanding who leave voters are, what they want Brexit to be, and how that can be delivered?

I don’t think I’ve seen anyone do it but Calling them gammon doesn’t seem a lot different to calling remainers remoaners, a word which is used with remarkable frequency by at least one poster in this thread .

The point I suppose is it’s an insult that’s become popular to describe the other side of an argument, only one side throwing round a word we’ve both agreed is an insult in this thread.

I accept we’re wandering from topic and I’m a big boy but constant use of remoaner winds me up , probably more than it should . To fit in with the gammon cliche though as we get older I suppose things do .

Aah, so we're taking oppression in turns now. I must have missed that.
There was me thinking any kind of persecution or oppression was wrong.
As it happens, I think the ERG membership ( of older, white males,) is entirely unrepresentative of this country and it is a PR clanger of huge proportions not to illustrate a better group photo than that group of clones who look like they come from Ealing Studios c1952.

And that is the constituency which has raged against the EU and made life hard fir every Tory leader since Ted Heath.

That people living barely above the breadline in sink estates in Sunderland and Burnley have sided with them beggars belief.

It was higher than the 29% quoted in some groups, if you want to break it down,
I think Indian born outside the uk being the highest off the top of my head.

I’ve not mentioned race mate , I mentioned gammon being used as an insult . Which you agreed it as same as remoaner .

As for saying remain voters put it down putting it down to dementia or the elderly , again I’ve read repeatedly it’s down to the rich elitist preventing it . are you sure about that , not for political , class trade union membership, religious reasons really?
Why are you now bringing sexuality into this, i will have you a bet that at least a few of those in the photo will either be gay or have some experience of none straight sex.
