We had a window of opportunity after the referendum to catch the EU not prepared for negotiations but we didn't have a plan to execute.

It's been a shambles, the vote should not have went to the people in the first place.
Agree, but there should have been a vote, it was time and there was demand for it.

There's that maddening belief that Britain was in the box seat in all of this. I've been accused of arrogance in this thread, but a bit of humility would perhaps help some folk understand the place Britain has in the world.
It's probably the lazy passive focus on that, rather than the dynamic 'what we want Britain to be' that is the big issue with honouring the vote. Obviously the likes of ERG can't raise their answer too loudly outside of their immediate circles.

The irony I suppose is that this whole episode has done tremendous damage to Britain's standing in the world.

This tells you a lot about these ferrets in government by the way. They wouldn't resign last night because they wanted to test the waters outside of a cabinet meeting in case the wind was blowing in another direction.

So instead they were perfectly happy to leave that meeting 'supporting' May's 'deal'.

Contemptible jobsworths, the lot of them.
