There's that maddening belief that Britain was in the box seat in all of this. I've been accused of arrogance in this thread, but a bit of humility would perhaps help some folk understand the place Britain has in the world.

We had a window of opportunity after the referendum to catch the EU not prepared for negotiations but we didn't have a plan to execute.

It's been a shambles, the vote should not have went to the people in the first place.

Nobody said it’d be easy Bruce

Liam Fox -“The free trade agreement that we will have to do with the European Union should be one of the easiest in human history”

John redwood - “Getting out of the EU can be quick and easy – the UK holds most of the cards”

Michael Gove -“The day after we vote to leave, we hold all the cards and we can choose the path we want”

David Davis - “ There will be no downside to Brexit, only a considerable upside”

David Davis -“Within minutes of a vote for #Brexit CEO’s would be knocking down Chancellor Merkel’s door. Demanding access to the British market”

Michael gove - “We have four years more or less between now and date of next election," he said. "We can easily conclude a new settlement with EU in that period."

What amazes me is that so indoctrinated are people that they still blame May et al for not delivering, even though Fox, Davis and Johnson were in the driving seat on this and weren't able to deliver anything even close to their delusional promises. Even this evidence isn't sufficient to sew the slightest seed that perhaps it's the delusional promises that are the problem rather than the people negotiating them.

That video with Tusk describing this situation as a lose-lose by the way, I can't help think that we're massively fortunate that the EU aren't the swines many on here paint them to be. Imagine if it was Trump in their shoes and he was faced by an 'opposition' as deluded and chaotic as the British government. He would have absolutely hammered us without a second thought.
