Again though just to pick one phrase out , safety and security can you just drill down into that . Tell me why you think we’d be safer for example. It’s like the Irish border , a lot of leavers just seem to have the approach of ‘it’ll work out “ or “blooming eu” , that’s why I used the religious analogy . People won’t be swayed from their belief , I’ve got my own somewhat complex relationship with religion based on childhood indoctrination and reverting to it when in life threatening experience so I’m not using it as a stick to beat you it just seems a fitting analogy.

I have mentioned this many times actually. I am unhappy with the way the EU is expanding ever closer to Russia and thus putting Russia on the defensive. Ukraine was a stark reminder of just how seriously Russia takes this. Remember they are a country that lost 20 million in WW2 and suffered more than any other country. Defence is burnt into their psyches. This, coupled with a Russian leader wanting to show that they are still a superpower, while we have idiots like Juncker, who have no history of world politics nor war, pushing ever further against Russia really worries me. With Juncker and co now wanting an EU army, so they don’t have to ask the Americans first, I fear there will be an EU/Russia clash and I want the U.K. well out of it....

The sad thing is that you probably can't see the differences between the two examples.

Oh I can.

Again, as I said to roydo earlier...

It's called humour.

There seems to be a distinct lack of it with those who voted Remain. Ded serious, they are, la, ded serious, ya know. Knowworrameanlike???

The honour of being childish is all yours sir being the poster who gets upset at not being tagged properly and who uses the same petty terms repeatedly in a futile attempt at being insulting.

At least you now know how to tag others properly so I suppose we are getting somewhere.
Sarcasm is the lowest form of wit.....
The tag went wrong at least I attempted a tag ......
I've had more quotes of you than William Shakespeare's verses........

I did not vote or ever have voted Tory even retired still a trade unionist I just wanted Out of the EU like 17 .4 million other UK citizens.........
Which leaves about 40 odd million who don't agree. How embarrassing it must be for a lifelong Labour voter to be assisting the Tory hard right with their vanity project in trying taking the UK back to its bygone days.

I don’t particularly agree with you but thank you for a well reasoned reply .

Pete, have you ever stopped to think that countries like Estonia want to be in the EU precisely because of their history of being subjugated to the Soviet Union? You make it sound like the EU are an evil empire swallowing up territories.

whatever there reasons for wanting to join, it still has the same affect Russia getting wound up and the chance of more conflict like in the Ukraine.

If they're going to bully countries, I don't think it's right that we side with the bully.

My opinion is that to be honest , the Russians are nasty so we shouldn’t wind them up in case they kick off is not a mindset I’m hugely onboard with personally.

Im not completely convinced on the eu army or whether it’s a realistic prospect whatever macron says but I do believe in people being stronger together particularly when we have an isolationist US President who doesn’t seem wholly personally committed to the principles of NATO.
