I’m just trying to explain how negotiators work, or in this case don’t work. I appreciate your lack of knowledge and experience, but don’t try and cheapen an input from someone who has actually done this sort of thing. Personal feelings have to be put aside, and cheap insults kept out of it.......

You'd think Pete with all of his years of experience trading with the world would be all too well aware that any negotiating position is only as strong as your next best alternative. The EU, for all its apparent sclerosis, is signing deals with the likes of Canada and Japan. Britain, despite Davis' bluster about having dozens of trade deals signed and sealed already, have bugger all in the pipeline for March and would fall back on WTO terms that only the weakest nations in the world rely upon. Yes lads, it's May who is weak, not the fundamental Brexit proposition.
You tell me then Pete. What is our BATNA? Walking away with no deal? That's the best we've got.
