Is it only me that is surprised that Hans, Pierre, and Gino, as heads of some pretty big EU car exporters/manufacturers to and in the UK, are not putting a bit more pressure on their Governments to at least make an effort to ensure their plants dont grind to a halt next April?

Or have I missed something?

The 'they need us more than we need them' was bobbins. Seriously I don't think all the 'trade with the world' radicals have the first idea how much businesses like the trading conditions that exist within the EU. It's slowly dawning that maintaining those conditions as they are for the remaining 27 are more important than pandering to Britain and risk diluting those conditions.

Wasnt really referencing the "They need us" stuff, more an observation that huge EU car company's have billions invested in the UK, and do sell tons of cars to us. They are arsed about one thing; their company, and even a few weeks of disruption to the supply line could be a disaster.

Thought/hope, they have made folk aware of that.

That's what I mean, if the single market is disrupted as a result of Brexit, that would cost them more than the UK market being disrupted. They're clearly keener on keeping the single market together than they are on maintaining the same access to the UK market. That should be telling us something.

Not sure I follow mate. The "They" you reference is the EU, or the CEO of Audi?

It might have been one of the contributors to that three blokes in a pub podcast but there is talk that some overseas car makers based in the U.K. are considering legal action against us after Brexit in that we’ve broken the terms they agreed to . I think it was Toyota that was specifically quoted , could be wrong I often am .

Terrific.

Looking forward to making all our own rules still. Going to be ace that bit.

VW/Audi sold approx 500,000 last year (inc Skoda and Seat)
BMW/Mini sold approx 230,000 (not counting motorcycles)
Merc sold approx 180,000

I would suspect given those sorts of numbers and the price of some of the vehicles being sold, Frau Merkel is getting some serious heat on getting something sorted out. Nearly all those vehicles are imported into the UK...... market share goes down and it hits them hard.

Not taking into account all the parts sales, which are not insignificant to a companys bottom line

Its not just the cold hard export numbers though, its the parts that ping across the channel to build the flaming things. Thats the drum I have been banging.

If the light bulbs for BMW's are from the UK, or the light bulbs for Nissans in Sunderland are from Italy, on 30th March, unless the loons sort it out, production lines will just stop.
