What I don't get is the fact the referendum was won by people voting to leave. Yet going through social media there doesn't seem to be a single person who is happy with that result . It is like they rigged the vote or just decided to leave anyway

Leave won, that's the last bottom line in this. So for all the hysteria going on, technically more people disagree with that train of thought.
Because the leave voters are happy and don't need to shout about it!!

Digby Jones former head of the CBI thinks the working class have worked it up the EU bureaucrats the merchant bankers etc
he is confident that it will settle down, and business will grow and the future looks bright -
Our economy will flourish in the next 5 years and beyond he was claiming he knew of medium sized business who have been fined by the EU for breaking their regulations on EU trade agreements because they traded outside th EU without costly permission, also even big exporters like JCB had problems trading worldwide because of the same silly EU regulations, on immigration he feels a points system would work and be fairer as we would prosper even more!
Thanks. Is his a majority view? Current CBI view? Do you think UK (or what might remain of it) will be able to offer better inducements for investment than the EU does? I thought the majority economist view is shrinkage of GDP over time?

I am hoping there will be a more solid argument than that!

Actually a very valid point @Joey66 makes.

The UK’s membership of the EU has, in truth, both created and diverted trade however there is a lot of evidence that trade creation has far exceeded trade diversion and brought increased competition, innovation and specialisation in its wake.

There will be some companies that could benefit from it. Personally, I just need to know a little more about the direction we take to counter the negative consequences before I could agree that this decision makes the future brighter.

I don't know , but I have always liked him as he has always talked commonsense I have seen him help factories on the brink of going under advise them to prosper on BBC reality tv shows on business he seems to have a very good background , and experience imo!

Yep, I am sure there are winners and losers under both scenarios. It is certain the world will go on, I am just curious whether Leave supporters can confidently show there will be better trade deals overall outside than in, and why they may think so. If the economy is weakened by the move it will be the less well off who suffer most.... They always do.

Thanks Joey. Not doubting his personal integrity. I remember his TV programmes. The Esk spoke about a likely drop of 4% of GDP over time which would add up to far more than our direct contribution to EU coffers. A lot of unions in favour of remain too? I guess we will see in time.

I think there is something in the antagonism of the young's view towards their older peers - who it appears swung the vote.

Basically, it goes to prove.

The older people get. The more cantankerous and demanding people get. They want their own way. They want to be 'kept' if they can get away with it. They want things to remain the same as when they were young.

It reminds me of the old quote, I can't remember who said it but it just about sums up the whole episode:

"When I was young, I had a broad mind and a narrow waist. As I grow older, I've noticed that these two things have reversed."

Forget the economy, Gove wants to be our next PM.
I'm packing my bags.
Do you know he was once a Labour union member -
