I see that Macron has suggested that we didn’t know how complicated things were to leave, so we should vote again. I’m sure that this will help convince us all to stay in the EU.......

I'm convinced. It's a good job those that campaigned for this can't have been expected to have any kind of plan for implementing it, even once they've been in the Brexit team for 18 months.

It's the biggest mystery in life to me at the moment as to how people like him, Rees-Mogg, Trump, Corbyn etc. are listened to.

It's like the world has collectively gave up.

Baffling isn't it? He wanted to leave, but had given no thought as to what that might mean. That's passed off as being fine. He was foreign secretary and in a prime position to guide policy, but came up with nothing. That's also fine. Now with barely months left until we have to agree something, he comes out with this nonsense.

I know leave voters don't like being called stupid, but if anyone supports this bloke then they really are being taken for fools.

every action and thought from that man has only one aim to better his own ambitions, god help us if he is ever PM

It's like they are deaf, nothing will get sorted until they decide what do about Ireland. Seeing most of it ends with a hard border between either NI and ROI or NI and mainland UK it would just be a breath of fresh air if they come out and say something that is possible even if it is unpalatable to some. Examples would be we are staying in the customs union or we are looking to move NI out of the UK leaving it free to join a unified Ireland.

Personally I think the only two workable solutions are stay in the customs union or a hard border between GB and the isle of Ireland. The 2nd one will eventually see the break up of the UK as I'm sure the Scots will be unimpressed that NI gets to stay in the EU and it will be what is the point of being part of the UK for NI. It will also bring the government down due to the DUP situation but even with all that it is probably better than the outcome of putting back a hard border between the ROI and NI.

Has anyone with actual knowledge in the area given an idea about how long it would take to develop the technology to not need a border in Ireland. Is it even possible?

Some of the Brexiteers seem to claim it's already possible which I can't buy in to.

As for them acting like they're deaf, it's unbelievable that we have to put up with the nonsense coming out from the high profile ones. I keep hearing Rees Mogg mention this but have no idea where he gets it from or how he thinks it will be representative if we crash out without a deal:

The North East Somerset MP said: "Six seconds of delay in goods coming in via Southampton, well, you get longer delays when there's a minor traffic jam on the M25 for just-in-time delivery so you have to contextualise this."

He is odious, but he's also powerless unless people swallow his rubbish. Same with Trump. That's the worrying thing, that people think he's actually alright.

As long as you turn it into an us against them argument, people respond to that. It doesn't really matter how much absolute nonsense you spout, how much of a weirdo you are personally, whether your policies are complete delusion etc. In general, people just want someone / something to blame for everything, the effects of the solutions proposed are a secondary consideration.

This all day.

Plenty of people like Boris, Rees-Mogg and the rest. The Daily Mail & The S*N are the UK's most widely-read newspapers. When we dismiss all these people as stupid then neither understanding the issues nor progress on them will be made.

A Corbyn-led Labour government who are still pro-Brexit I believe will heal a lot of these divisions, as it's the best realistic compromise option out there.
