They are caught up in the success of their land rover product lines. The market for 4x4 SUV vehicles is continually growing, there are more rr on the road than ever. The overall car market is changing as executives and families go for suv’s, pick ups and cars that are just more fun. Tastes are changing......

When a small part of JLR/Tata were a client of mine in a previous life, the mark up they could charge for especially the Chinese, but other foreign markets, was in part because they could still trade on the Made in Britain tag. That was a few years back mind, but as you say, tastes are changing.

People who buy new jaguars are not sitting there worrying if they will have a job because of Brexit. This is a product and product mix issue. The CEO should be fired for attempting to mislead his shareholders.....

You are right that usually these are bought by people immune to the usual rough and tumble of the markets but there will be that emerging customer base that were looking to buy a < 45k car that might think it can wait for now. Or even fleet managers that will be more in tune with what Brexit might bring to their own companies that are choosing to wait or buy cheaper brands. Could be that foreign dealerships are struggling to sell these as they used to as there could be a hefty import tax slapped on it by the time the order is made??

Entry level Jaguars are not as expensive as you might think, these are on par with Audi/BMW and Mercedes. They are not for the mega rich like they used to be.

To say Brexit isn't part of these decisions is laughable, it may be a small percentage at this stage but the uncertainty it causes, the extra costs are all part of the factors that I'm hoping everyone who voted leave took in before doing so. You have been championing this so you can at least own the negatives and say that it will be better in the long run...

This is not us that have made this up, this is the bloke from Jaguar. I said a while back that it gives CEOs a perfect excuse to fire staff/shut down/move production away, free from blame as they can just say brexit and this is what will happen all over the country.

...And is it possible that falling sales have come due to the uncertainty brexit brings? I would be hesitant buying a brand new motor when in 6 months you may not have a job or the second hand market collapses due to a flood of people getting shot of their nearly new vehicles because they can no longer afford them.
The anti diesel movement has nothing to do with the gas guzzlers produced - hence the falling sales - so it's Brexits fault ....

No it is another reason, but just like Pete says that Jaguar buyers aren't put off by fear of Brexit, why would they be bothered about diesel and trade in values for their old cars?

Then why would they say it’s falling sales. Now as an ex jaguar driver of many years, that now drives a Range Rover, I might point out that the luxury of the jaguar is no better than a rr, that the drive is no better, but the joy of driving and versatility of the rr, together with a myriad of other outstanding SUV’s on the market, might just be having an effect upon sales of an overpriced saloon.....but hey it’s probably Brexit, because that way Management can’t be blamed.....
they say it's falling sales and Brexit fears, not falling sales because of Brexit fears. I've no idea why their sales are falling but if I was to hazard a guess, I'd say, due to future economic uncertainty, luxury items are the first to see falling sales.

As soon as someone from a car company says Brexit is a bad idea the Brexiteers jump all over them with their 'project fear'. According to them their is a 'bright new world' out there for trade. Obviously, motor manufacturers 'don't see it, don't get it etc'. Incredible, they are going to 'make a packet' but are against this by warning that Brexit will be disastrous for car manufacturers. As far as world trade goes for UK cars the strategy will be made in Germany, France, India and Japan not in London.
Car manufacturers have worked out about supply chains, WTO tariffs on their goods sold abroad until there are trade deals. They will have factored them in including the added costs to transporting more goods around the world. How many UK Nissan's sold in Australia are made in Sunderland? Same how many in Brazil, Africa? We are told that the Commonwealth will take up the slack. How many in Africa, India, Asia can afford a UK made car? Courtesy of 3 men in a pub. A very good watch is 3 men in a pub Brexit part 1.

Watching the news diesel cars are unpopular especially in London, so when we can export them worldwide tarrifs free they may be in demand and affordable again.......

Well that's one way of looking at it! I guess they will stop producing diesel engines for hybrids over the next couple of years as most of the sales will be to America and Europe. I think you would also be struggling to think of nations that will start buying 40k+ Jags that aren't already. But least I like the cut of your jib in thinking outside the box, selling our goods no longer bought in mass here around the world, Del Boy would be proud!
