I disagree with you, a lot of people voted to leave because the status quo was no longer bearable.
Bit harsh mate. I look at it more 'stuck in their ways'. They still wish Cliff Richard was playing on the radio, 3 day working weeks due to the power shortages, lots of holidays due to strikes and Britain producing the best cars around like erm...Metros...
How would you like it if you got called an idiot for voting out?.... great democrocy from a former Liberal Democrat.........?

It may be harsh, I accept that, but in this thread, and indeed in most public platforms where leave voters have expressed their views, they have not only been incapable of explaining in any detail what aspects of the EU they wish to move away from, what the future will look like outside of the EU, or how that future will help overcome the challenges they identified in our life inside the EU.

This is then compounded by their tendency to instantly dismiss anyone who has given some thought as to the details of the above, and they are seemingly completely oblivious to the difference in the well thought out opinions they dismiss and their own back of a fag packet considerations.

I don't think anyone in here is especially unreasonable, but I suspect what the vast majority of remain voting people struggle to cope with is that we are making this monumental decision on the basis of seemingly no thought or consideration, and then when you have the temerity to ask for some thought and consideration, you get accused of being sore losers or sabotaging things.

Idiocy sums it up quite nicely imo.

It was a crass remark Bruce.......

... and were repeatedly lied to, that it was the EU that was the prime cause of their woes.

Does it make them idiots to believe the lies? I don't know - but it does reflect their (understandable) desperation.

I'm not calling them an idiot for believing the lies, I'm calling them an idiot for continuing to believe the lies even when a great many people who have devoted their entire lives to understanding these things suggest they're wrong, they still refuse to move their position one bit. It's frankly ridiculous.

Democratical vote Bruce - imo your a sore loser........ also Bruce leaving is now an act of parliment........ calling people who disagree with you idiots - is well below the belt Bruce.......

This is the bit that grinds Joey, we are not sore losers. Most of us want what is best for the majority during an already volatile time. You say the skies haven't fallen in and while yes, it isn't that bad, yet. Try saying that to a company that has most of its business go through America. They could be getting 20-25% less due to the weaker pound (the pound was getting stronger off the thought of a remain victory so we could have seen 1.7-1.8 instead of 1.2 something it is now).

Less money coming in, less investment, smaller workforce, less taxes (so less money for services) and that loop will continue as the pound won't be going up the day we leave finally. That is what will happen to almost all businesses unless we get a very favourable deal from the EU. Instead of us feeding off the weaker economies during this time to grow our way out of trouble we have decided to become a sitting duck. It's frustrating.

I've had this same debate with soooo many people that still insist that leaving the EU is the best thing for the country. The fact that their only evidence to back it up is "the majority voted for it" is just ridiculous. The majority voted to leave without having the slightest clue what leaving actually meant. The fact that there is now far more evidence and a greater understanding that leaving the EU could be catastrophic for our economy seems to be irrelevant to them.
Anyone that still believes that leaving the EU is in the best interest of the UK is either an idiot or they're just burying their head in the sand.
There is absolutely no upside to leaving the EU whatsoever.

Really in bold why o why are posters who were remainers still running the referendum debate - Look I want to leave on the best possible terms for both sides - not be bullied into submission in negotiations or be labeled an Idiot on here either........

Seeing increasing number of reports from this thread.

Understand and appreciate that while we expect common courtesy to be maintained, we won't be humouring people crying over heated exchanges. If you can't stand the heat, get out the kitchen.

Still, GOT is a unique beast - lots have asked for a place to discuss current affairs and this is our 'But Ok...' and we'll review. It's your platform and it's down to you to make it work.

Our advice to make this forum work;
  • Don't be a tit.
If you are, your account will be denied access to this forum.

This thread is one big recursive loop.
It will be when remainers won't accept the democratic vote -
If a Unon votes democratically for a strike by now ballot - and yes I have been on strike, and picketed -
You expect your top Union men to negotiate a good deal to return to work - I do agree our negotiations have been pathetic - I wonder why ........
Lets see if we get in a deal that's what this thread should be about now imo........
The way forwards not back to pre referendum arguments .......

I want to leave on the best possible terms for both sides
That's where the leave argument falls down. There is no 'best possible terms for both sides'.
If it were possible for the UK to leave on the best possible terms we might as well stay in the EU because the best possible terms will keep the UK in the existing trade agreements and adopting a lot of the existing EU law.
So wanting to leave on the best possible terms is basically wanting to remain in the EU but still leave which is just idiotic.
