Well is it not amazing the EU can offer yet another country a trade deal without the four freedoms yet want blood out of the UK .......
It really shows they are bully boys - Canada , Japan, now the USA all trade deals on goods with no fees no fouir freedoms.....
Hypocrisy at its worse - what Trump did not say is how long the deal may take , and Brandy soaked Jean-Claude Juncker how long he will get the other 26 countries to agree on it - this farce of an organisation needs replacing into somethin that is workable back to the common Market days which i voted for =Trade only.......

MAYBE, BECAUSE OUR GOVERNMENT CAN'T REACH AN AGREEMENT THAT RESPECTS OUR EXCEPTIONAL SUPERIORITY, WE SHOULD INVADE THEM AND FORCE THEM TO ACCEPT IT JOEY?

*sigh*

It's not bullying Joe, it's the fact that what the UK has is so much more (and so much better) than a trade deal, and both the UK government and EU know this. The EU have said if you want that extra good stuff, you follow the same rules as everyone else who enjoys the good stuff. The Leave voters reckoned they could say to the EU "don't you know who we are?" and they'd instantly be able to cherry pick which bits of the good stuff they'd keep and which bits of the rules they could ignore. The EU, as they said they would at the start, told them to get stuffed.

If any ones cherry picking its the EU - got their divorce settlement - offered us nowt - if we had a bullish leader Brexit would be sorted now........ two years on , and going around in circles - Labour would roll over on this too........
The fact is since the UK voted Brexit the EU seem to want to trade worldwide without the four enshrined four freedoms laws - the hypocrites who slate Trump on the other thread seem to be enjoying the fact he hated the EU last week and is prepared to do a trade deal this week with them ......
Also as you stated is this TTIP in disguise......

The divorce settlement is a ridiculous moniker for what are our legal obligations. There are numerous commitments that the UK entered into when a member of the EU that need to be upheld. If we want to Welsh on those agreements, then it says to every other government that we're crooks who can't be trusted.

It wasn't something that needed anything in return because both the payment and the projects we pay towards have already been agreed. I really can't paint it any clearer than that and as leave voters regularly claim themselves to be of sound, and indeed outstanding mind, you would hope this would sink in eventually.

Yes but if you are leaving we have agreed to honour the divorce bill that you mention only to be told - no deal on trade.......
then go and do what the UK wants to do without their enshrined laws on trade....
Not ethical Bruce........one rule for one and crap on a former member........

They're completely different things. It's the same as the negotiations around EU and UK nationals. One side is exploring how to manage what is (ie the projects we have committed to and the rights of people who decided to live and work somewhere under one set of rules and whether those are now changing), and then there are discussions about what the future relationship will be.

Correction......two voted Leave, two didn’t vote. The two who voted Leave don’t fit the profile either....

Do you think 5 people out of 17.4 million is a good sample size Pete? You do realise that the polls looked at trends, so whilst amazingly not every single UKIP supporter voted to leave, the vast majority did. That gives you a basis to try and understand the vote a little, even if the minority of UKIP supporters who voted to remain are not represented by that narrative.

I have no problem with paying for something we said we would pay for and it is stupid of Rabb to talk about the divorce settlement as if we shouldn’t pay it, unless of course that is what was agreed or understood when the number was arrived at. But Joey does have a good point in that all and sundry now seem to be agreeing some form of Trade agreements while the EU is still trying to screw the U.K.. I only hope that seeing how the EU reacted to Trump once he threatened the German car industry will help put some backbone into our own leaders....
