They may well be, but I’ve no idea how representative the people of GOT are, apart from there seemingly being far more males than females. I see little benefit in ‘understanding’ the electorate, and certainly not in the way the results of these polls have been portrayed. I don’t care about graduates, minority ethnic groups, age, sexual orientation, immigrant status, or political leanings. If you are allowed a vote, it’s used and counted then that’s it. Perceived analysis of voter profiles are of potential use to marketing folk and politicians wishing to target certain groups, or in this case trying to disparage people for voting in a certain way. There are numerous types of polls and resulting extrapolations each effectively showing the authors exactly what they wanted to prove or ‘sell’ e.g. http://blogs.lse.ac.uk/politicsandpolicy/brexit-and-the-squeezed-middle/ . I would also have to say that research methods have changed somewhat since the days of getting on the right side of the Librarian and professional bodies....
