More musings then. Pretty much everyday I deliver to businesses at Portbury Dock. The docks basically are used to import an array of cars and vans from the far east, and up to 85000 are there at any one time. I assume cars are exported from there as well, but dont actually know.

They come in, then over time, many, (most? dunno) are trucked all over the UK, and presumably into Europe.

So post us leaving, why would they continue to use that dock as a gateway to the EU? The UK ones, fine. But unless I have missed something, I am not wrong am I?

This is why May wants to collect duties on behalf of the EU, I assume to keep the port trade etc going. But infrastructure doesn’t appear overnight, see our new ground, and some stuff that goes to the EU will in future be delivered directly there, and stuff that we receive via EU ports may come directly here, which is why Mogg wanted duty collection to be a two way street.....

I am sure they are, red tape especially. But I was asking if I could still export to somewhere that I currently do under an existing EU trade deal, the day after we leave. Not trying to be funny or obtuse, genuinely dont know.
Nothing will be known untill the EU agree negotiations on trade this should have been debated early on in negotiations I remind you the EU were allowed to leave till the end bad negotiations on the UKs part I agree.....

Gotcha. Didnt have a clue about that duty collection stuff I heard about. It would make sense for everyone if gateways could be retained via an agreement on that.

What for those sectors i.e. cars, pharma and aerospace?

Many industries have agreed standards so that product can be sold anywhere, such as aerospace, but even then country specifics may have to be added. Pharmaceuticals you would expect to be the same, but they are not, pill size, dosage, content even. Have you noticed that we actually drive on a different side of the road to the Europeans. By the time you take in electricity generating standards, health and safety, quality of oil, petrol, packaging for the environment, etc etc etc, besides customer preferences, there are differences and, as I said earlier, we already do.......

Well tbh, I think Mogg did it because he knew the EU would refuse, but the logic is sound enough.....

We don’t in any of those 3 sectors, the standards are uniform ie we produce to one standard and comply with EU regulations, so the rest of that post is just meaningless babble.

One small business who voted Out showed the MASSIVE MONTHLY file he had to fill in to fulfill trade he wanted it to be easier in time out of the customs union may help his firm.....
The removal of the customs union will reduce the administrative burden of EU exports then?

Mad and backwards.

Even when the actual reality is spelt out, the fully paid up members of the Cult will simply shout PROJECT FEAR!

Decent ploy though, as having the full horror of that prospect’s reality spelt out is exactly what it might take for there to be a backlash against the Brextremists and hopefully for some sanity to be restored.

"I stocked up on food and water the minute Article Fifty was triggered. I'm alright jack."

Or words to that effect.

Well We can trade anywhere outside the customs union with agreed lower tarrifs our trade now is dropping with the EU year after year they are on the WTO like us but set the tariffs if items come visit the EU to us that will end......
Business will gain .....
Other countries survive outside the EU .......

So no then. The idea that Brexit somehow reduces the administrative burden of exporting is simply not true, it’ll do the exact converse for anyone who exports in to the EU market.

We can trade anywhere outside of the EU now, only we’ll lose over 50 trade deals that we currently have via the EU.
64% of our total exports either go to the EU or to countries that we have trade deals via the EU - which all go in the bin when we leave.

We’re literally starting from scratch Joey. It’ll take years to get back to where we are now in terms of trade deals.

Pop.....
