I kinda thought that initially, but no, I don't actually think it's that far fetched at all. Liam Fox would have us as the 51st state in a second.

Joey the bit you are ignoring there is the bit where it says "free". It is no longer free.
University is free if you don't get a top job ...
It was only the very bright students at the fifth the year who went on to university on then a grant which was a pittance...
By the way present politicians Blair and co got free university.....

How anyone could think Johnson is a credible candidate is mind boggling.

The thing is that, among his peers in the Parliamentary Party, he genuinely is one of the top five candidates - in terms of intellect, personality, achievement. This is what ten years of Cameron and putting pictures of Thatcher on their bedroom wall as teenages have reduced them to.

The Tories are making themselves unelectable this is now becoming farcical if Boris is the leader it's a whole new battle and WTO may be on the cards......

That won't happen, simply because it'd be total madness. Brexit will be kicked in to the long grass first.

Indeed, the common sense thing to do right now is revoke the Article 50 declaration, then reinvoke it following a General Election and possible second referendum on the type of exit, meaning that the transition period is the countdown after we formally request Brexit.

That was the mistake in the first place for the Brexiteers - sheer impatience and demanding Article 50 being triggered as soon as possible instead of looking at the hand you had to play first. The EU were always in a position of power on this issue; the Tory backbench racist brigade didn't care.

This entire shambles could’ve been avoided if David Cameron hadn’t cowtowed to UKIP.

It’s not as if they’d even have won any votes anyway.

Perhaps, though the problems this has identified (that they are useless) would have been exposed at some point - I suppose its best that it happened now with this and not, as it did in the late 1930s, with a true existential threat to our survival.
