Quite, but at last the part of the real equation has been revealed.lol @ at the ERG insisting that May's proposal to have shared standards with the EU is wrong, because it means we can't have shared standards with the US.
the mask slipped a little bit for a moment
Not really it's the EU stopping us trading on EU terms, and not the interest of the UK terms which may be tariff free..Quite, but at last the part of the real equation has been revealed.

I’m not sure legally how it would work, but I suppose that we could agree that for goods that go from U.K. to EU and vice versa that we have common EU standards. We could also agree that goods that go between USA and U.K. and vice versa with no onward transport to the EU could have a common USA standard......
Serious question for the Brexiteers among us.
I share your belief that there's a vast democratic deficit within the EU.
I also believe that there's a substantiated lack of accountability that has led to the economic destruction of a number of European countries, and that little has been done to resolve these fundamental issues in a manner that doesn't destroy the life chances of those nations poorest.
However I also view the EU as a means to make Europe a far more equal and fair place.
Given the fact that we'll soon be able to automate many jobs through the application of both Artificial Intelligence and Robotics, and how global capital is as fluid as it has ever been - how are we as a nation of 63 million people able to unilaterally fight against these free-market forces?
If we were to attempt to 'stem' the usage of these technologies, multi-national companies will simply be able to negotiate a tax-settlement as to ensure that no 'real' losses are made through the avoidance of said tools. Moreover, how are we going to unilaterally raise corporation tax as to guarantee the future of our NHS?
1. EU as a means to make Europe a far more equal and fair place. You mean like Germany and Greece?
2. Sorry, what was the question?

so basically you are saying we should stop being a vassal state of the EU, and instead be a vassal state of the US
