Is it cynical to think he scrapped the deal because it was seen as an Obama deal, so it served him to complain about the many unfair deals he was laden with, and then to complain afresh about supposedly unfair trade practices that TTIP would have solved?

I don’t know if they would have solved them tbh. It’s ok saying that the tariff barriers go, good for USA, but if there is then a regulatory barrier imposing additional costs for vehicles entering the EU the benefit may be reversed. I just don’t know the detail or the numbers......

Yes technically but the cars they make for the European market are made in Europe and not imported.

They sell different models in Europe than they do in the US.

Thought that was the case.

About the only Merican cars I see, or rather, Merican cars I associate with Merica, are Chevrolets, who seem to have sold a fair few People Carriers.

That said, for all I know, they could be built on Mars.

Whats interesting about GM who make Chevrolet is their European models are mainly different too. GM re branded Daewoo's (whom they own or are part of the same group or however they did it) to Chevrolet in Europe.

Well that explains why I see 000's of them at the docks I deliver to then!

Imported, iirc, from China. Deffo not the US, thats for sure.

in fact they have just announced that they are scrapping production of all cars here in the States and are going to concentrate on SUV's and Trucks. The F-150 is the best selling vehicle of any kind here, which is crazy!

Cars are crap, SUV’s and Trucks are the future, even here in the overcrowded U.K.....

you'll have to troll better than that!

No mate. I spent my life driving large Mercedes, BMW 7-Series and Jaguar XJ’s and now drive a Range Rover. It’s smart, excellent on the motorway, gives the space and comfort I’m used to, it’s more fun, it’s more practical and is safe in the snow. My wife loves it so much that we traded in her Mercedes for yet another SUV; my kids, granddaughter and even the dog love it. My only regret is that I didn’t get one 30 years ago...

The EEC is not the EU. They are totally different animals. They consisted of different countries and with different aims. One was an Economic community, the clue was in the name, the second is a political union, again the clue is in the name. We voted to remain in the former and we voted to leave the latter.....
Spot on @peteblue a good documentary was on BBC4 Saturday night about horticulture crops the history etc believe it or not British workers loved horticulture food production harder work then - then the common market came food mountains remember them.....
Then greedy farmers employed European workers gang masters orchards hedgerows cut back to nothing British varieties of apples uprooted nearly to extinction....
What a great club we joined can't wait to leave the berocratic mess , and oh if it's that great ask the Greeks, and Italians how they love the EU.......

Well tbf, the Greeks and Italians are basket cases anyway but Italy has certainly suffered. There is no doubt that the CAP has changed farming in the U.K, but apart from the labour issue, the damage to the wildlife environment, the overproduction resulting in mountains and lakes, the changing view of the countryside with overlarge farms, overpriced food etc, I’m not sure it’s all bad......

It’s looking like we are going to get a coordinated series of civil service leaks. The latest one being a doomsday scenario of having no food or medicines when we leave. Yet somehow the rest of the world manages to get food and medicines without being in the EU. Pathetic really.........

already been debunked, the one today.
Can't wait till we finally get out of the EU, that's if we ever do?

Cmon Pete, you know the situation here. As part of preparations for leaving, a number of scenarios will have been produced, from best case to worst case, with varying levels of probability attached to each one. The press have unsurprisingly jumped on the worst case as though that's the scenario the civil service believe will happen. It's lazy enough from them, but I didn't expect it from you too.

It does strike me as interesting however, that there were clearly no plans drawn up by those campaigning to leave, yet when plans are drawn up they're the wrong kind of plans because they don't provide the milk and honey answers that leave voters want to hear. Given how easy it was all supposed to be, you'd think there would be a coherent plan from somewhere, wouldn't you? Maybe Mr Reese Mogg and his gang could have produced one? From what I understand, all he's produced is soundbites rather than anything more detailed.
