Bruce we have had MEPs the leader is rotated cronyism at its worst after Junker it will be Barnier imo just old farts!
They dictate EU policies end of that's why I voted Out Aldo two parliaments for the same Eu parliaments costing millions very cost effective when do they audit their books?......

I thought old farts were wise and experienced and brave, hence why they voted for Brexit?

I see that the U.K. is no longer to be trusted......

“Britain’s hopes of building a deep security partnership with the EU have been cast into fresh doubt after Brussels issued a warning to EU member states that the British government cannot be trusted to handle sensitive crime data, the Telegraph can reveal.

The potentially provocative move by the European Commission’s Brexit negotiating team has raised questions among British officials about whether Europe is “really serious” about having an enduring and stable relationship with the UK after Brexit.

It comes after UK ministers threatened this week to quit the EU’s new €10bn Galileo satellite network over EU threats to block the UK from using its military applications.”

I don’t know why we are continuing with this charade........

The EU's true colours will gradually, and eventually, be seen, pete, but I suspect SOME on here will still cling avidly to the belief that the better option is/was to remain in the EU. There are none so blind...

Haha, because they don't agree with you and a few other spivs?

They're 'useful idiots' and not British, wottabout the will of the sulky 50pc /s

It will not make any difference to what actually happens. It’s just that they are picking the most ridiculous things to vote down. To effectively suggest that the UK courts, parliament and the Lords are incapable of guaranteeing Human Rights without EU law and the ECJ is really just silly, and that’s the way it will look to most rational people. My comment was not so much about for or against Brexit or even the form it takes, it’s just that it undermines our own Parliamentary and Legal abilities......

He expresses it better than I......

“Opposing the motion, justice minister Lord Keen was heckled as he claimed retaining a "body of foreign law" after Brexit would be "one of the greatest constitutional outrages since 1689".
He said: "What happened to the mother of parliaments? What happened to the concept of the sovereignty of this parliament? We're prepared, apparently, to abandon it in favour of a body of foreign law because we no longer trust ourselves to protect our own fundamental human rights. Is that what we've really come to? It is a shocking denouement.
"The idea that we're going to have to cling on to a body of foreign law in order to maintain fundamental human rights in this country is simply astonishing. It would reflect not only a constitutional outrage but a total abdication of our responsibilities."

The ability of parliament you say? Respect for law in the current government? Maybe they just don't have any faith that our current legislature will respect our rights. Let's see what is proposed as a replacement first eh?

Why would you think that the mother of all Parliaments would not respect your rights.....

The current windrush debacle creates a strong element of doubt for any migrant living here lawfully.

The Windrush debacle only occurred because of the unfettered mass immigration ushered in by Tony Blair, and the subsequent needs of border patrol. The Windrush people will be sorted out, rightfully, and does not require EU law or the ECJ to act as guarantors.......

It's a nonsense Pete, as well you know. To blame Windrush on A8 migrants is devoid of any connection to the facts. I was speaking yesterday with Tech London Advocates, who represent the tech sector in London, and the single biggest hurdle they faced was recruiting the right talent. They've pleaded numerous times with the Home Office to get Tier 2 visa numbers increased, all to no avail. He was also saying that the vast majority of startups either are founded by immigrants or have immigrants as a core part of the founding team. That's well known throughout the world.

You will no doubt argue that without open borders that will mean the government can increase visas for skilled workers, but just remember that of the 300,000 or so non-EU migrants last year, just 30% were either Tier 2 or Tier 1.

This desire to radically reduce immigration levels, either to a level acceptable to the UKIPers the Tories are out to appease or to a level that the Home Office can deal with, will be incredibly damaging to our economy and society as a whole. I mean there are already more Chinese students studying at British universities than the supposedly desirable level of immigration.
