It could have been oh so different, if the Tories hadn't attempted to gain political advantage for the Tory party, from waving the union jack for their interpretation of what leaving the EU should look like. It has badly failed. And with the onset of Trump's trade war rhetoric and actions, the UK is going to be even more up the swanny without a paddle, attempting to get a trade deals with the EU and countries outside. The question has always been posed for the UK, which side of the trade war barricades does it want to be on, the US or the EU. Trump has brought to the fore what has been going on behind the scenes for years, and that will pose many challenges for the UK.

I think this is the first time I have read you saying that all may not be good the other side of Brexit.

I am a realist. Some things will be harder, we knew that, but some things are being made harder unnecessarily because of the antics of those who should be supporting the U.K.........

Aren’t they just representing their constituencies who voted remain? That is what politics is about.

Doesn’t matter if HQ have decided something, if it screws your community then you must stand up and oppose it.

Some do, Soubry for instance uses that, but let’s be honest here, whichever way her constituents would have voted she was absolutely gutted on the night of the vote and has never recovered. Many politicians don’t really give a toss about which way their constituents voted, Leave or remain, because ‘they know best’. People like Tony Blair trying to undermine a democratic result is quite frankly disgraceful and will cause trouble in the future when some other vote is close such that the losers will disregard the vote. I have no problem with them holding their views, I have a problem when they undermine our negotiating position and add confidence to the other sides negotiators. When we entered the EEC, no one knew if it would screw up a community, apart from fishing of course, and when we leave no one knows for absolute certainty how it will turn out. But quite frankly the choice between allowing my family to be governed by people who I cannot vote out of office, and going our own way was a simple choice. The Irish border thread contains many posts of why the ROI voted to split with the U.K., Scotland was allowed a vote to stay or leave the U.K., well now it’s our turn......

Despite those who think of the EU as the enemy, it appears that they are more sad for us than gloating.

A dose of reality from the continent:

Hahaha, if that isn’t gloating, what is.......they are all sorry for us because it will all go wrong and will still be under their control.......well thanks but we’ll take care of ourselves......

Exactly. Political soundbites and rhetoric. Does that stupid women expect us to BELIEVE all that she says...?
