Norway and Sweden have a income tax and electronic border!
That's what's been proposed by our government
The EU don't want that !

Norway is also part of the EFTA with access to single market (as well as Schengen).

This is completely different situation than a border between an Ireland in customs union and single market and the UK that would be out of both.

Added to that there is five times as much goods traffic across the current Ireland border as across the Norway-Sweden border. Almost all Norway-Swedish traffic is one-time but the Irish border cuts across supply chains, so that many goods cross and re-cross the border several times.

And dispite what you’d like to believe - there are checks at the Norway-Sweden border currently.

Comparing both situations is either mendacious or stupid.

Just because you want something to be true doesn’t mean it is.

I must add I’m not arguing this as a reason to stop Brexit (even though I’d love that to happen) but more to point out to leavers, that at some point people are going to have to be honest and say ‘I want Brexit even though that means a hard border either in Ireland or the Irish sea’. I’d have more respect if they did rather than talk utter rubbish based on falsehoods or pie in the sky ‘technologies’.

1. Brexit creates problem. 2. Brexiters don’t have solution. 3. EU comes up with possible solution. 4. Brexiters don’t like solution. 5. Brexiters blame EU for problem. 6. Brexiters threaten EU. 7. EU calmly points out facts. 8. UK dismisses facts. 9. Repeat daily.

Come on, do you REALLY believe the above?

Did you actually read what I posted? This, for example, after we have left:
But the EU proposes that this committee would be able to refer to the European Court of Justice for a binding ruling - with the EU's court having the power to levy a fine or suspend parts of the Brexit treaty.

Now, if you are happy with that scenario, well, words fail me...

A decision has already been made, we're receiving lip service from the Government and ministers. NDA's have already been issued to Senior Customs officials at Dover detailing the proposals for trade into the UK.

Mate - I'm not happy with any of this.

What I can't understand though is you (and others) insistence on blaming the EU for everything.

You realise this was a draft legal proposals document put together by the EU? It's us that are leaving, it's this government that triggered Article 50 way to early to appease the lunatic wing of their party (and country)... Why are we not putting together detailed legal texts that include possible solutions to some of the inevitable problems of Brexit?

Obviously the situation outlined by yourself above would be farcical - but it's not up to them to come up to solutions (that are in our favour) to a million of these problems of our own doing.

Brexit will fail eventually - under the weight of it's own contradictions. But if I was you I'd be looking at this government first for handling it so badly.

Yep this.

I'm tired of people defending the indefensible through outright lies and disregard for facts.

It's a torrid world we live in. Discussion and rationale has been derailed by bullying and stupidity.

To date, I've still not heard one sensible reason why we're leaving the EU. It's always nebulous nonsense rather than solid fact. We're risking the livelihoods of several generations to come simply because some Tory backbenchers don't like foreigners, have a misty-eyed nationalism for a Britain that no longer exists and/or EU 'red tape' stopping their rich mates from abusing the poor for profit.

Yes but ithe border is electronic we are leaving the EU and they don't like it so they use bullying tactics!

But the circumstances are entirely different Joey!

Ireland to a Northern Ireland outside the Customs Union and Single Market is not comparable at all to Norway and Sweden.

What's becoming ever clearer with these conversations about the Irish border is that loads are doubling down on the insanity. I guess it's hard for people to admit they were wrong, hard even just admit they have doubts.

No-one wants to admit to being fooled and nobody wants to admit to voting for something without thinking through all the ramifications (and I suppose why should they have. The government should never have put us in this position).
