Bruce, these polls mean very little......here’s some done on the day/day before the vote......

An online YouGov poll last night gave Remain a 51-49 lead, while a telephone poll for ComRes had Remain leading 54-46, An online Populus poll, the last conducted before voting began, gave Remain a 10-point lead, 55 to 45........

Incidentally Pete, the Social Mobility Commission did some work recently looking at the parts of the country that were worst for social mobility. Of the 65 worst performing areas, 62 of them voted for Brexit. I know you're not keen on opinion polls, but those kind of stats are probably why May made such a big deal about 'remaking' the economy during her conference speech. Sadly, the heads of the Social Mobility Commission resigned en masse this week due to the poor progress being made by the government on the issue. I'd love to hear your thoughts on how the government, and of course it's work with Brexit to date, has helped matters, or indeed will eventually help matters.

If we don't get a trade deal we've just agreed to maintain the status quo. Basically.
No Bruce no way will they give us access for free to the single market with the same benefits this was just a desperate fudge to get to round Two of talks if they get a poor deal it will go back to square one with a new leader - nothing is agreed till everything is agreed!

Exactly. The agreement basically says that either we have a trade deal that keeps things the same as they are now (as you say, very unlikely as it's a cake and eat it scenario), or we fall back on the existing arrangement to maintain the status quo in Ireland, which in reality would mean a Norway style arrangement where we have to abide by rules we'd have no say in crafting.

It's quite the achievement for taking back control in that we'd have even less than we had to begin with. It's hard not to laugh at the sheer farcical waste of time it's all been, as all we'll have done is annoy our closest trading allies, blow huge amounts of time, energy, money and goodwill, to achieve a result that's worse than the one we had to begin with.

Maybe it's an OUT with an asterix similar to the one that accompanied that message on the side of a bus?

The thing is Bruce the crunch of the trade talks may see us walk away and the EU who have blocked faze one, stated it's only the beginning of the uphill task - we have bent over backwards to get to phase two of the talks - the Irish DUP leader stated in a wry comment she had more a less just gave permission for stage two talks to go ahead - first it was the money pay off sorted - the residence issue sorted,- the NJC courts a big concession!
then the Irish border partly sorted cheap words fudged issues- phase two of the talks will be far more difficult, and we will leave the EU they have stalled from day one expect more stalling tactics!

Trading with the world*

Seriously Joe, the jig is up. They've agreed that the Irish border must remain open, therefore the border with the EU must remain open. Goods, people, money. If there's a trade deal, that must happen. If there's no trade deal, that must happen.

Doesn't look like it. We'll have to carry on putting up with straight bananas. Or was it bendy ones that were the problem?

That and the 500 million folk who are, or rather, were, on their way over to wreck the NHS and take all our jobs.

If it wasnt so serious, it would laughable. As a plot line for a Swift novel, this wouldnt have got past proof reading.

Haha!! Bendy ones. It was to stop growers making bananas look nice and not letting them grow normally if i recall. If you ever see a non farmed banana tree the fruits are all oddly shaped and none conform to any standard.

Growers purposely manipulate them nowadays to make them look nice

Sorry nerdy moment haha!! I remember writing a school piece on this subject haha!!
