And you would be the first to complain if something like that happened here......

WTF, we don't even get anywhere near a 50-50 call!

The north of England has seen the biggest cuts in government spending over the past five years, official figures show.

Spending in the north has fallen by £696m in real terms since 2012, while the south of England has seen an increase of £7bn.

But Pete that's the very thing again you say it was a simple flip of the coin but you know that's not true.

Again read the article. It said it took a vote on various locations and i'm guessing based on criteria it was felt a lot of those were not suitable. But when it came to these two cities they were split on the vote.

Both cities obviously were attractive based on whatever criteria was defined.

The "spin of the coin" as you put it was to separate them. I don't think anyone will lose any sleep over it except maybe you? Oh that's right you don't care though even though you seem to care enough to spend time lambasting their technique.

Also you mentioned to Tubey about asking their employees where they would like to go really Pete? You think that's how any business or organisation works when moving?

Not on your life Pete companies and organisations move all of the time despite what their employees think. I would imagine the committee representing each organisation were probably part of any vote anyway but even if they were not it doesn't matter as their boss moved them to were they felt best.

Im not at all bothered, it just shows how absolutely useless they are, and the Italians are not very happy.....

“Roberto Maroni, governor of Lombardy, the administrative region in which Milan sits, said: "I'm disappointed, but there is also a feeling of sadness because we see the paradigm of this Europe that doesn’t know how to make decisions, that can not assume responsibilities and relies on fate.“.......

Sure Pete, someone who is not bothered about something doesn't spend his or her time harping on about it with every chance they get. Everyday you scour the internet for any anti EU article you can find just to tell us all about it and then commentate how useless they are but your not bothered right?

I'm asking whether small towns have benefited since the vote. It's not a difficult question. Has Brexit helped poor people in Britain?

Ridiculous question Bruce, and well you know it. You are just being provocative for the sake of it. No one, not even you, can quantify anything yet. Of course, you know that, but just play the smart guy here.

Why don't you poll every town in the UK and compare the findings?

And asking this: '...Has Brexit helped poor people in Britain?...' 17 months down the line, ever before we have finally come out of the EU is the lamest question I have ever seen in this thread...

Of course I am bothered about the EU, the way it operates and our exit. I am not bothered where they put their agencies, I am bothered that major decisions are made on the toss of a coin or drawing sticks, and so too should most sensible people...how will they decide on other important matters, decision dice?.......

Nothing has changed.....apart from our increased sales in manufacturing and exports....oh and unemployment keeps falling....and...

Do you realise that a considerable quantity of our recent export is due to the withdrawal of gold by those that now consider it too risky to entrust it to 'our' companies post 'leave' vote?

What?. Gold has been withdrawn from both the U.K. and USA by Germany. Gold movement has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that the U.K. is currently enjoying the highest manufacturing output and export for just under 30 years. This is mostly due to the value of the £, the same £ that the BoE had wanted to devalue anyway but couldn’t until Brexit happened......

You tell a good tale mate, but it conflicts with the ft analysis a couple of month's ago.

Everyone is telling the same tale.....

“UK manufacturing output growth accelerated in the three months to November – with orders at their strongest for nearly 30 years.

According to the CBI’s latest survey of the sector, total orders were their strongest since 1988, with a significant improvement in food and drink and chemicals.

Export order books were the joint highest in more than 20 years, with a notable strengthening in chemicals, electronics and the transport sectors. This increase has been driven by the fall in the pound, which has made British goods cheaper abroad.”

The guardian......

“Order books for Britain’s factories are at their strongest for almost 30 years as the weak pound and global growth bolsters demand for manufactured goods.

In a boost to the chancellor on the eve of the budget, the CBI’s monthly health check of industry showed a sharp improvement in both total and export order books.

The employers’ organisation said the climate for order books had not been better since August 1988 – when the boom of the late 1980s peaked. Food and drink firms and companies producing chemicals have experienced a particularly marked increase in demand.

Export order books – which have been helped by the fall in the value of sterling since the EU referendum in June 2016 – were the strongest since June 1995. The pickup in external demand has been led by the chemicals, electronics and transport sectors.

The CBI said strong order books had resulted in higher factory output, with firms confident that growth would continue over the coming three months.”
