As I've said before, no one has total control, but we will have far more control than we have now and we will live with that....

How is that though? Okay, there may be somethings that we take fully back, but there will also be a number of things (such as GDPR) where we are beholden to uphold regulations we had no say in crafting.

...and we will be paying something substantial for the pleasure of whatever deal we may manage with the EU - there is no reason to think they will ever give us more for less.
We currently have a better deal than Norway, who do not have a say in EU regulations.

"Irish Prime Minister Leo Varadkar said he remains “confused and puzzled” about the U.K.’s global trading plans after Brexit, as the clock ticks down in talks on the terms of Britain’s exit from the European Union.

The U.K. government seems to be suggesting it wants all the advantages of being in the EU, but none of the responsibilities and costs, Varadkar said in an interview Monday with Bloomberg Television in Toronto."

I do love listening to Politicians telling us about advantages, responsibilities and costs. This from Ireland who until recently had been a net beneficiary, since they joined when we did, and have contributed nothing to the EU. The UK by comparison has paid in about 400Billion net......the only concern that many of these countries have is that we will no longer be paying into the trough.....

Big deal, the US dept of Commerce effectively controls the internet.....

So what you're saying is Ireland used to contribute nothing, now they contribute something but they contribute nothing but they'll have to contribute more when the UK leaves, how dare their PM question the confused Brexit position...... (lots of full stops just for you)

It will do when the EU realises that this is a two way street........
yea, the UK comes up with a workable plan, the EU work with them.
No workable plan yet. Not much time left. It's almost as if none of the UK pols want brexit but don't want to say publicly. This can will be kicked down the road for years and won't do your economy any good.

But we will be out of the EU. Even if the absolute worst happens with the EU shooting itself in the foot, economies can be quickly rebuilt, and as you say it's our economy so don't let it bother you......

There is no confused Brexit position. We are leaving the EU. Ireland's PM is showing signs of panic because he knows that unless the EU do a deal with the UK then Ireland will suffer economically. The UK is not leaving for Economic reasons, but to leave a developing EU superstate which we didn't vote for. If the Irish PM wishes no pain for Ireland then he may be better spending his time bending the ears of his partners in the EU......

He's taking a hard line with the UK because he can, because their Brexit strategy is a mess.

He's not taking a hard line with anyone, he is an irrelevance. The only people who matter in all of this are May, Merkel and Macron. The Irish PM, the name of whom I've forgotten, has less influence on Brexit than Sturgeon or Jones.......

Except of course that resolving the Republic/Ulster border is one of the agreed preconditions to resolve before anyone even begins to talk about trade. What could possibly go wrong?
