I don't wish to be controlled by Germany, or France, or any of the other EU countries. I don't want an EU President who I didn't vote for, or even had a chance to vote for. I don't want to be part of an ever expanding political block that seeks to take in no end of countries with which we have nothing in common. I don't particularly wish to end up in conflict with a nuclear Russia. I do like the idea of trading with the world again. I want the best for my kids and granddaughter. I didn't listen to any politician during the vote.......

Que?

So vote for a United Ireland or move? Absolute gold

As we can't figure out a solution to the border issue for bonkers Brexit lol

No. If they vote to remain part of the UK then that's it. If they vote to join Ireland then that's it. But to ensure that no troubles ensue I would offer the option of relocation. I want NI to remain part of the UK but it's their call. What would you do ?

How many times has this been done ffs?

They lied, the director of the campaign admitted they lied, they knew the effects of said lie. Pack it in for Gods sake man

And how many times has it been said that those on the side of the Remain campaign lied as well.

Give it a rest, Foot. Both sides were as bad as each other. At least the Leavers acknowledge that. It appears the Remainers think they were squeaky clean...

George Osborne........

"George Osborne will warn that he would have to fill the £30bn black hole in public finances triggered by a vote to leave the European Union by hiking income tax, alcohol and petrol duties and making massive cuts to the NHS, schools and defence.

In a sign of the panic gripping the remain campaign, the chancellor plans to say that the hit to the economy will be so large that he will have little choice but to tear apart Conservative manifesto promises in an emergency budget delivered within weeks of an out vote.

“Far from freeing up money to spend on public services as the leave campaign would like you to believe, quitting the EU would mean less money,” Osborne will say. “Billions less. It’s a lose-lose situation for British families and we shouldn’t risk it.”

Genuine question, did you realize Cameron had no plan when you voted?

Genuine question back to you: Do you really think the ordinary person in the street is party to all of the thoughts of the top politicians?

If you do, then you've got a lot to learn about the operations of Government...

And did you know that Cameron had no plan when you voted. Did you know that Osbourne was spewing crap when he warned of a swingeing budget against the ordinary people of the country if his chosen course (Remain) was not followed? Did you believe the garbage that Carney was spouting pre and post the Referendum decision? Those three for starters, aside from all the financial analysts, talked a load of crap for months.

Take off the blinkers and look at the whole scenario last year...

No. If they vote to remain part of the UK then that's it.
thats what?
that's what the situation is now.
A united Ireland is not a viable solution to the border problem, at least not while the DUP are king makers. There will be no referendum.
Anything short of a completely open border will be vetoed by Ireland unless the UK can get a deal by 3/19
So ruling out a united Ireland, how do you propose solving the land border issue.

I've answered this earlier in this thread......

no, I don't think the ordinary person knows the inner thinkings of politicians but I do think there's a general feeling which is why I asked the question you failed to answer.

I didn't vote, I live in America

The only thing I like about Carney is the club he supports.

I have the blinkers off. It's not that difficult.

It's the EU who are undermining her future. The UK has already offered to allow her to stay, the EU however are playing politics......

It's quite simple to unilaterally solve this issue mate. It's not always someone else's fault. In all fairness though I think it wouldn't solve everything in the example cited, since it would hardly resolve the abuse the lady suffered.

I am guessing some people will be a tad unhappy after Brexit, then it's no longer possible to blame everything on the EU/Merkel/... . Okay maybe a small adjustment to the tactic is possible; it is the EU/other random organisation's fault because they've not made the Brexit a cake and eat it story and this results in .... [insert an unpopular social measure/new tax/whatever]. This is one of the biggest advantages about Brexit I find, they can no longer hide any more.

I put the question back to you, because I htought it was a piss-taking question in the first place. The ordinary person in the street here hasn't a clue about how Government works, and the thoughts that go into making decisions. As a civil servant for over 30 years, I worked on secondment for a time at Headquarters. The Government decisions passed down to HQ (and the spurious reasons to be given out to the general public), you would not honestly believe. Believe me, there is good reason why civil servants have to sign the Official Secrets Act!
