Juncker storms off after being asked if this was the end of the EU. One good kick and the whole rotten structure comes falling down.

Deutsche has been a rumour for quite a while now. The general feeling is that is has got much too big and starting exercising a risk appetite well beyond its historical norms.

Everyone is in massive trouble if it goes under. The German government will have to do unreal financial gymnastics to sort it

OK thanks; but not really related to todays events in general terms or will it keel over in this stock market hoohah

The eu referedum now is a box to coin the phrase.

We are on an island and a box has washed ashore. The remain voters believe the box contains something dangerous and therefore do not want the box. the leave voters believe it contains valuable supplies to survive by themselves on the island.

The only way we know is by opening the box.

Any excuse to post UHF clips is a good thing.

OK so the EU has been an easy form of funds for Universities in recent years- mostly in terms of sifting money off towards the drug companies for research into medicines they then price out of the NHS market. In the times BEFORE the EU existed - our Universities were world leading in many aspects. They have been well run and funded before, and they will be so again. Perhaps less wastefully.

Not really. For the University sector to be well run again it would require loads of them, most of them in fact, to go bust.

Surely they can challenge it now though.

If scotland voted overwhelmingly to stay in the EU and then suddenly found themselves outside of it then that is reasonable grounds for a second Independence vote if there ever once one.

i have no idea if scotland did vote in that way but you can easily justify it if they did.

and England without EU but scotland indpendant with EU would make our position quite difficult indeed.

Any excuse. Immediately after the Scottish referendum the leave campaign - Salmond - was saying they won't stop.

Ultimately, they voted to remain part of Britain - taking the benefits that offers - and that involved going with what Britain determines - that's why they had their right to vote in this EU referendum.

Scary times ahead, hasn't history taught us to be wary of a small man spouting right wing , populist rhetoric? Blame the foreigners.
Significantly the extreme right wing partys from France,Italy and Sweden are delighted with the result.
Oh and Donald Trump !!!!

Depends really mate.

The problem is that we could have voted Remain and still been taken under by the massive problems that could be right round the corner - even this year. Voting Leave will barely quarantine it , probably not at all.

Today is big not just because of the huge change of direction for UK politics but the massive knock on effects. A shock this big could have major market reprocussions because whole most firms will have had Plan A and B contingencies some will have gone all in on Remain - it depends how many were that greedy

What if nothing changes, what if we agree free trade deals, which we will, she's just looking at a way to get a split again, it was obvious she'd pull this card out if we decided to leave.

You know what, I'm not arsed, Scotland can split from us if they want, it will be the biggest mistake they ever make, that country would be deep in the crap if they had left, their independent economy was built around oil, which has crashed in price, 10 years time most cars will be battery powered or hydrogen powered, we are going to come to rely less and less on oil

True.

I am just saying the environemnt has changed and scotland as a whole want E membership they can then challenge independance knowing they would have full support from EU, probably gaining the Euro in the process.

I just mean they have a point if they overwhelmingly voted in favour of remaining. If it was split or leave edged out slightly or whatever then it would be a none starter on that basis.
