Of course they did, we have had this debate before, but I'm aware that some voters were informed and some voters weren't. In my point of view, as somebody who isn't a euro-fanatic but would rather live with the benefits of it than without, the public were not educated as to the benefits of the EU. Even the remain campaign seemed almost scared to highlight the good points of the EU as though they had admitted that its reputation was in such tatters by 2015 that there was no point, hence Osbornes stupid comments.
Sadly, no political campaign is ever sold on it's benefits. It's just a continual slurring battle.

I do believe, correct me if I'm wrong, that the Remain campaign (in this case the British Government) spent £9 million on a leaflet distributed to every household in Britain to try to 'educate' the country as to the benefits of the EU... It didn't work. All it di was spend 9 million quid of taxpayers money...

Too little too late.

That's nothing in the grand scheme of things

So that's not enough time for someone with a modicum of intelligence to read the leaflet fully, decide whether the content was giving them correct information or not, and with their own views on the overall situation, form an opinion as to how they wanted to vote?

Again, I ask the question: are you serious...?

I think the complexities of the voting in that referendum run a little deeper than the reading of a leaflet.

Why don't we focus on the real issues, like what economic sense does it make to leave (i) the single market (ii) the customs union and (iii) what guarantees will the government give in terms of loss of citizen rights resulting from Brexit should it occur?
