Seen the show, Farage held his own council, and in all honesty gave some common sense answers I like both of them TBH they agreed on a couple of things in fact showing that tirade on Farage is misleading!

It's not misleading, it happened ffs. Farage said nothing in response to this rinsing

By and large its advanced social care that can be learned on the job. I'd say it could be better done like a PGCE, a bit of classroom theory, and mostly practical training. All done in a year.

I dunno, that's just how it looks to me. Happy to be shot down.
Plenty more to it than that mate, I work alongside nurses and the majority of their work is not just social care, but also first responder medical care.
The way their degree is structured is so as to include a practicum balanced with a moderate understanding of the human body and how things work.
The certification a degree provides legislates a certain quality of care within the industry.

Pulling you up on this, why?
Basic nursing IMO,should be a vocational skill I listen to old nurse who stated it was three days on the ward and two days in a near by nursing college - theory is no good if you cannot do simple tasks like taking blood or putting a siliene drip on the back of a patients hand etc written qualifications can be still attained with a practical exam!
If they later want to become ward sisters when experienced a NEBSS qualification is adequate to be a any supervisor in any trade four things - Plan - Organise - Motivate- Control your day's work with great communication,
Never let me down as a Manager still have my NEBSS tie course prize winner !

It's a lot more than bum wiping and feeding to be honest, especially when you're in complex wards like neurology or ICU. The latter, for instance, sees the nurse with the patient full-time, 1 nurse/1 patient, and it's incredibly complex, and having helped the other half with her work (grammar rather than the subject matter), there's some very advanced physiology needed for the job.

Of course, not all wards are that intense, but it's moved on a lot from the days of the doctor being the all knowing deity and the nurse being a kindly but rather dim and compliant servant. It's a lot more of a 50/50 partnership these days.

Will Self made himself look the absolute prat that he is. He came across as a smug know it all, looking down his nose at all those horrible people who wanted to leave the EU.....

He didn't insult the electorate at all, he's a very eloquent and knowledgeable chap. I thought he was a good panel guest.

It's a vocational degree Joey, the practical elements are tested on with exams and practical experience and placements are required to complete the degree.
