As shown by the Brexit vote, people don't seem to vote in accordance with economic common sense anymore. It's hilarious to me that you write off Scotland going independent based on economics, yet voted to leave the EU with no thought of economic consequence whatsoever.
I tended to get the impression that those voting Leave had one of the two following stances:

I'm largely immune to the perceived economic impact of Brexit

My economic situation cannot get any worse from Brexit so I've nothing to lose.

I rather feel the argument that it's economic suicide is being put forward by those who stand to lose out the most due to Brexit.

The top EU French negotiator quote the borders will not be forced to alter under the Good Friday Agreement quote he then left the stage look it up!
Mate, the border check points were gone 5 years before GFA was signed.

The concern now is that re-introduction of a physical border, for trading or UK entry checks, will lead to a return of violence. Add in the damage that Brexit will do to Ireland's inwards investment and we may as well have been stuck in a time machine back to 1920.

You could argue that Germany has been the only EU country to benefit from the EURO!

That is a fair point actually... though I wouldn't say only. And don't get me wrong, it's disgraceful how the Germans have destroyed Greece in order to indirectly bail out their banks, without having to admit that they bailed out their banks. My point though is that German (or Scandinavian, or French) civil society would never tolerate what's been imposed on Britain.

Interestingly, Germany was horrified to relinquish the Deutschmark - they had to be guilted into it as a sort of final apology for the war - and indeed, their economy slowed, initially. Much of the average German's lack of sympathy for Southern Europe comes from the idea that "we had to tighten our belts so you could have the Euro, and we turned out okay, so now you have to get your act together too."

how can us leaving the EU start up violence where they involved in the good Friday agreement it was the USA and Blair to my knowledge?
advocating that is a bit harsh and cynical imo!

I didn't say that at all. I said the concern would be that the return of a physical border would lead to the return of violence. Perhaps look up the history of border posts in my own county?

you most certainly did, PM May,and the North and the south of Ireland has stated no border controls will be necessary, its just the remainers way of saying its not practical of leaving the EU!
