As shown by the Brexit vote, people don't seem to vote in accordance with economic common sense anymore. It's hilarious to me that you write off Scotland going independent based on economics, yet voted to leave the EU with no thought of economic consequence whatsoever.

You don't think that voting for Brexit is economic common sense but that doesn't mean it isn't (its just your opinion)

Charles Dunstone ‘What I feel about Brexit is that it’s a little bit like we’ve jumped off a 100-storey building and have just passed the 50th floor and we’re saying, “Actually this isn’t so absolutely terrible” — but we haven’t hit the pavement yet.’

ESK we are leaving the people voted accept it democracy should always count!
in ten years time you will be glad to have left the titanic!

Quick question. Do the EU numbers you are quoting include the UK ?........how's that for a comeback......

A poor last ditch one.

It includes the U.K. In the same way your original post does as well

"Europe however seems to be taking a battering"

Again you were either wrong about the figures or were deliberately misleading. Whichever one it is it doesn't alter the fact that your statement was patently false.

Good point. But even when they thought they had both the economic case and the nationalistic one they still voted to remain as part of the UK. While the SNP will pick a fight over anything to demand independence, the people who voted to remain would need something to tip them over the edge. I'm not really sure that Brexit gives them that, but if it does then good luck.......

So you were trying to suggest that the EU figure of 0.4 which included the UK's growth was somehow better than the UK 'only' growing by 0.5.......I think I'll stick with my understanding though.......

The ECB is about to declare yet another bout of quantitative easing to cover failing European banks, some suggest about €70Bn per month for another year, but we won't know until it's declared. Not the actions of an area doing well.......

Would be good to see Mr Dunstone at pavement level rather than in his boom and bust skyscraper looking down at the rest of us!

Wow you're getting a bit desperate here Pete inventing things that I haven't said but go on I'll go with your "understanding" as well then.

Therefore in future I expect you to point out to anyone who is claiming that the UK is doing ok economically that we are performing in a very similar manner to an economic zone that is taking "a battering"

Thanks mate

The thing is, we are doing OK. It's pointless trying to prove that the EU is somehow doing better than us when all the numbers suggest it isn't. It may well prove different in the future but we've outperformed the EU for about 4 or 5 years now, that's just a matter of record. Some individual EU countries may well have slightly better numbers but they are being dragged down by the rest of the bloc, especially in the Euro Area......

We were well out performing them pre the Brexit vote, and the forecasts indicated that would continue. We're now more or less on a par with them.

What a result.

It's being cheerful that keeps you going isn't it........just for once, once only, try and think of a single positive opportunity that Brexit will bring us in the future.....
