A surgeon is a highly skilled, highly qualified professional. MPs are anything but, and frankly, I'd trust the opinion of a passer-by in the street ahead of any politician's.

Doctors get things wrong roughly 50% of the time, but that's generally ok because they're a) doing the best they can, and b) a lot more qualified than anyone else.

The best we have doesn't have to be perfect, it just has to be the best we have.

But they have a point with that. I mean turnout in EU elections is incredibly small. How many could even name their MEP, let alone have a decent grasp of what the EU does or doesn't do?
So what if some people don't know who there MEP is!!! Does that give me or you the right to criticize their decision? Based on what, we have done a little bit of political research ourselves.... If that's the point your making then why let any of us vote!! Lets just leave all the decisions to the politicians then eh? Lets scrap the GE and leave it to the politicians because they know what's going on (their politically educated!!) Shocking mate!!!
So should we have political I.Q test before being allowed to vote?

This is not about what might/will/wont happen to the country or what trades/movements/policies/ will take place, its about the right of the UK people having a choice.. And their choice was to leave the EU! (regardless of weather they do or don't know the Pros and Cons of it) End of Story!!
As one poster said yesterday if you remove 'democracy' (which is essentially what the 'remain' voters are trying to do) then Anarchy will surely follow.

If people vote for a decision with a lack of knowledge on what they're voting for, then it's perhaps no surprise when we get bad decisions. You seem to be getting rather worked up. I haven't said that general elections are bad or should be scrapped. I said that there needs to be higher quality, reliable information provided by both the media and the politicians (regulated if needs be), and people should feel beholden to research as much as they can prior to casting a vote. There's no shame in saying "I am in no way qualified to cast an opinion, so I'm not going to".

It doesn't matter why it took place IMO,

I think it matters a huge amount as to why as much as how something takes place. The answer to why is the proximate cause of the referendum. Without suitable answers to the why and how then the legitimacy must be called into question.

LBC radio James O'Brien - I thought it was you ringing in the other day Brucie two of the wettest liberals on the radio lol
hes like you never gives an answer has the biggest google machine in his studio - did he offer you a job as co presenter?lol

You keep saying liberals are wet mate. Do you want an arm wrestle or something equally macho? :) From what you've said, you spent your professional life working with flowers and should know only too well about the peril of people in glass houses throwing stones ;)

Sorry mate but I do get wound up about this!;)
Your right their is no shame, but I am sure you have convinced people less educated than yourself, to vote remain, like I have done to vote for Brexit
People who have no idea about it.
Maybe it should be introduced into the education curriculum instead of subjects like RE, that would be a start then kids who are leaving school coming upto the voting age have some idea of what they are voting for.
I still feel strongly though that educated or not, everyone's vote should be valid and shouldn't be questioned![/QUOTE]

"...reliable information provided by both the media and the politicians (regulated if needs be)..."

I am deliberately quoting only a part of your post, and make no apology for doing so.

I do believe the little snippet of yours reproduced above was exactly what happened in Germany several decades ago. The whole shooting match (what went out over the media of the day from the Politicians) was led by one Josef Goebbels...

but there used to be one truth, and different opinions. Now many papers print opinion as truth. There needs to be some comeback where it is palpably spherical objects....

The point is, we will almost certainly have the exact same agreements in place with the WTO as we do now (ie those we have as part of the EU). The EU will no doubt do likewise. Which is lovely, except we left with the motivation being not to do that. There's no reason at all for the EU to be unhappy with that as they negotiated with the WTO on exactly that, but we are voting to leave all of that, whilst it's staying exactly the same.

All of this division, the cost of leaving and so on, all to achieve bugger all.

The UK fought two world wars and spent sums of money that are unimaginable to achieve bugger all. Was any of that worth it......

people still attempting to ridicule researching the subject matter I see.

Kind of sums it all up to be honest.
When you have websites dedicated to ratifying the information in the campaign propaganda on both sides, it rather makes you wonder what is the point of researching the whole subject. Who can you trust to give you an honest opinion?!

Apparently you can't even trust government documentation when it says it will carry out the will of the people......
