I’m a bit more apathetic about this and climate change now. It’s not being taken anywhere near as seriously as it should do, and naturally some go that apathy eventually rubs off.
Sure. Maybe if you look at all the climate 'weirding' world-wide, like all these 1 on a thousand years events. While it's currently a bit mad like and I'm struggling to sleep (obviously) it was 38 degrees in Wakefield in 2019 too.
"Why are you meteorologists such downers nowadays?"To do anything now, if it would even work at this stage, would take collective human action on a scale we have never even come close to achieving in the history of our species.
Generally speaking, we can't comprehend complex macro problems and even those of us who do accept that human-driven climate change is real and happening don't fully grasp the severity of it.
Those that do will simply never be able to effectively communicate it to jobbers who consider their own opinions to trump those of experts who have tirelessly researched this, and whose intellect and understanding of the crisis is completely, laughably beyond them.
Basically, we're effed. The only thing we can do is sit back and watch as we pulverise the lovely planet we've been given and listen to the denialist bellends say things like "bUt wE HaD a HeaTwAve iN NinEtEen DiCkItY FiVe". Have a lovely day
The reaction to this heatwave from older generations is painfully predictable. In all honesty I didn’t expect there would be so many climate change deniers still left at this stage. To do anything now, if it would even work at this stage, would take collective human action on a scale we have never even come close to achieving in the history of our species.

Oh I'm not arguing that. Just saying it's mad how it hit the same two years ago and I really don't even remember it.Sure. Maybe if you look at all the climate 'weirding' world-wide, like all these 1 on a thousand years events.
I've had this out with my dad - told him to stop saying crap like 'oh other countries have it', because those other countries that he refers to are, by and large, built for it.The reaction to this heatwave from older generations is painfully predictable. In other, completely unrelated news; India are planning to commission 10 new coal power plants this year.
We werent allowed out two years ago so anyone moaning about the heat was on a hiding to nothing from all the grasses.Oh I'm not arguing that. Just saying it's mad how it hit the same two years ago and I really don't even remember it.
Everyone just needs to be sensible today and tomorrow and then it's over and we'll be back moaning about the rain.
Also it conveniently ignores the simple fact that certain parts of the planet are starting to become unsuitable to sustain human life. That is a big problem which will have a huge knock on effect.I've had this out with my dad - told him to stop saying crap like 'oh other countries have it', because those other countries that he refers to are, by and large, built for it.
Wildfires in Spain and Portugal aren't 'normal' and it's very abnormal for temps to be hitting high 30s in the UK.
thats the one, it only takes a couple more feet of rising sea level and theres some places that wont be places anymore. no ones goin sleep in scuba gear. Also it conveniently ignores the simple fact that certain parts of the planet are starting to become unsuitable to sustain human life. Climate change induced migration will be a thing in the coming years. That will please the oldies I’m sure.
