In its latest environmental report, Microsoft disclosed that its global water consumption spiked 34% from 2021 to 2022 (to nearly 1.7 billion gallons, or more than 2,500 Olympic-sized swimming pools), a sharp increase compared to previous years that outside researchers tie to its AI research.

If the wet bulb temperature catches up then potentially millions are in real trouble.
Yeah, must be grim. I think Pakistan is reported to be >50 too, but maybe has lower humidity and wet bulb potential. Seems to have had really high temp's for a few months now iirc.

Long term fresh water supply is glaciar dependent there isn't it? Rise in temps there could have devasting effects on the water cycle
The sub-continent ? I think it's very important for them mate, I noticed they were burning up early a few months ago, and there were concerns about the extent of the glaciers several months ago too. Apparently there may be religious impediments to treating water then consuming it in some quarters which won't help either. Let's hope they don't hit a wet bulb threshold.

Pakistan inparticular I would have thought have a reliance on glaciars for fresh water.

My boyfriend is from India, the weather is due to the Pacific ocean and is naturally occurring happens in blocks of years. Wouldn't worry about it.

Just the 52 degrees recorded today in a suburb of Delhi

Warm in summer etc

Water issues in a few places in the Indian sub too mate :(

Its naturally occuring and exacerbated by anthropological activity. It is concerning and a desperate trend for the very near future.

It is concerning yes for the countries involved. As I said my boyfriend is from New Delhi and lived there from birth up until three years ago. They are used to these events and plan accordingly. Indian homes have very good air conditioning for that reason.

The problem goes a looooooong way beyond homes with air condition, which unless built passively creates a postive feedback loop as the hotter it gets the more air conditioning required, the more energy used etc etc.

Fingers crossed for your BF's family etc and others but in the long run this is a very concerning development

It is concerning and I'm sure with the patterns of increasing temperatures would change the goalposts somewhat in the near future as you say.

But governments can't mobilise change on conjecture. People only react to changing conditions in the present that's human nature unfortunately.
