Capitalism is a pain in the ass, who knew... I've often said there needs to be some sort test to pass before casting a vote in a election... Good proportion of the electorate says one thing and does another, Green agenda is not exempt from nimbyism, anecdotally its the gold standard of British Nimbyism, nothing here changes that view.

Lets hear more about your idea to test people before being able to vote.

Sounds a bit elitist.

One of the biggest reasons our personal lifestyle choices matter when it comes to the climate crisis is that what we do changes us. And the other big reason is that what we do and say changes others, too.

And the contagion of seeing others act, says behavioral economist Robert Frank, can spread “more like outbreaks of measles or chicken pox than a process of rational choice.” The difference is that, unlike coronavirus, behavioral contagion can be a good thing.

In 2015, two geographers noticed solar panels popping up on houses in their small US state of Connecticut. Curious, they set out to see if they could figure out what predicted who had them. Would they be in richer homes? Or in areas with higher population density?

Early adopters of solar panels tend to be people who are interested in innovative technology, who find an installer they trust, and who think having solar panels will benefit them. But once an early adopter made their choice, the geographers found, a cluster would spring up around them. Having solar panels on a house near you, where you could see them and talk to a real live person who had them, it turned out, was the biggest predictor of whether you’d get them yourself.

Why? Because it brought down the “cost” of information. You didn’t have to go somewhere or find a new person to talk to; they were right there beside you and ready and eager to bend your ear with all the information you needed to make the same choice they had.

This makes a lot of sense to me. My friend in Virginia installed solar panels after several of his neighbors had done so. From my experience, solar installers were fairly aggressive in pursuing additional installs after completing one near my house. I’m planning on adding solar panels on my back roof at some point. The Sun exposure is ideal—just need to save more cash

That can't be right, a random Everton fan from Tipperary said it's all wham
See now you've gotten it... Still waiting for them to tell us that we just had the hottest driest April on record, and people believe it and use it as proof, although they usually wait a while untill people forget how wet and cold it was.
Edit, they have already said that it was in the top 20 warmest Aprils on record in Ireland.. my arse it was, it was utterly miserable

Hard to believe our top environmental expert still doesnt understand the difference between weather and climate

What a top top thinker he is, easy to see why he saw the gaps in a scientific consensus that Carl Sagan and his modern day peers could not. Must be another polymorth
We're you in Ireland for April? I'm saying that there is no way the average temperature of April was in the top 20 highest on record.. I actually said it as a joke that they'd tell us that.. then upon searching I find that they have said it..

Sorry I've been put in my place here.. apparently despite everyone thinking it was a cold April the statistics say otherwise.. 🙄 a mass delusion has taken place, despite us all freezing our asses off for an entire month we have just been told that we basically just imagined it and the temperature was above average.. I don't know what things were like in the UK but this article says a warm start and a cold end to April, well in Ireland we didn't have a warm start or end yet they've just told us that April was in the top 20 warmest on record.
