The cynical opportunism is what makes them vermin
Entire point in a notable number of uneducated populace. Is you get turkeys to vote for Christmas. If oppositions cannot grasp that nettle after Brexit debate, well what's the point of them.
It's crazy the subsidies around electric cars that even the poorest of workers are having pay out in green taxes so their senior managers company owners can tootle around on the cheap in a cost of living crisis while they run their exspensive diesel/petrol, it resonates!

I wonder how many ambulances and cars are being disrupted by climate weirding in New York and why the usual suspects are silent about it.
Just a note about this. Happened to visit my folks in New York (Long Island) over the weekend. My father is in his early 70s now and we were talking about how there are many areas that flooded Friday and Saturday that have never had flooding issues in his lifetime. Unprecedented.

A report that hugely overestimated the cost to the UK of reaching net zero emissions has been retracted by the rightwing thinktank that published it.

The Civitas pamphlet published on Thursday claimed to offer a “realistic” estimate of the cost – £4.5tn – and said “the government needs to be honest with the British people”. However, factual errors were quickly pointed out after publication.

The most serious error was the confusion by the report’s author, Ewen Stewart, between power capacity in megawatts (MW) with electricity generation in megawatt hours (MWh). As a result, he presented an unrealistic “£1.3m per MWh” figure for the cost for onshore wind power. The true number is more than 10,000 times lower at about £50 to £70 per MWh. Another error was mixing up billions with trillions.

Job done though.

Deliberate, without a doubt, whether the person who's name's on it is cognitively impaired is an entirely different question. There'll be loads of quotations out there now to support other publications and scare the plebs into voting for the party that doesn't spaff our money AOTS*

*By shop, I mean themselves, family, donors, and associated financial vehicles.

Also quite revealing that these right wing think tanks clearly have no peer review system before theri reports are used at a national policy level

I dunno, I can understand them publishing what they want really mate, it's that despite their track-record, and demonstrable bias, they're taken seriously and get LOTS of media time to air their poison without any credibility and justification, such as a peer review system.
