Sozzled

Player Valuation: £8m
Under Moyes we found ourselves in this position a few times. However there was always a sense of hope rather than belief. This time round there is actually genuine belief on my behalf at least. We would always roll over for the big teams. We had very little quality from the bench and played negative football.

Under Martinez, the whole aura of the team has changed especially on the pitch. There is a real steel about the team with an added bonus of a cutting edge in the final third. I think we are the real deal. It's changed from hope to actual belief. There's still along way to go but I genuinely consider us one of the top 4 teams in this league. I'm now looking beyond fourth spot. That's how good I think we are.

I felt this today. We battered them, they went in front but I always thought we would get one back and was not at all surprised when we did.............

JDawg started a thread about 12 months ago ( ? maybe in Jan ) asking why we couldn't push on for a CL place and the majority view was that, even with an injection of new blood in the transfer windows, we'd miss out. It's very different this season. The old hoodos have been blown away down the East Lancs and there's now a real belief in the club from players through to supporters that we're capable of top 4.

We might not get there, but we know with Martinez in charge that we'll have a damned good go and, at the very least, it'll be fun trying.

We just look a total different side mate. It really is on this season. No longer looking at that fourth spot.

Me too Pete, when they scored I just had this feeling that it wasn't quite over, that there was still time, and as long as there was still time, there was 11 players not willing to give up, because they believed they could do it. And so they did.

I didn't start going the match until 1988 so I've seen us decline from title winners to being nearly relegated, seen some awful sides and performances and had a few highs along the way. But right now, is the best I have ever felt as an Evertonian. I mentioned in the match day thread that its not just the players who are starting to believe but we as fans are now. That is a lethal concoction, almost like we have woken from a slumber since 1987 and now starting to find our voice again after years of being kept in the shadows. We are no where near the finished article, this is just the start and yes we don't have the same kind of money to go and buy 30m players but at the end of the day its a game with a round ball 11 men v 11 men and anyone can beat anyone. We can beat anyone and can really kick on by stuffing Fulham on Saturday.

Arsene Wenger was reduced to making a triple substitution in an effort to wrest control of the game.

And he still didn't.

Lads, we might well be on the cusp of something special here.

Proper football team now mate.

A balance of skill, aggression and solid defence buoyed by a manager courageous enough to say "don't care who we play let them worry about us", it's been the bedrock of good teams since football was invented.

Too many idiots managing in the British game complicating a simple game to justify their huge wages fkn morons they are, Roberto clearly tells players they are footballers so go and play like footballers and good players revel in it.

His judgement is spot on he realises we don't have dough so without complaint smashes the "loan" system, he plays the media and fans like a virtuoso we are damned lucky to have the best young manager in the world here at GP.

We should worship him like a god so when the money crew come sniffing his heart and soul is so welded to L4 no amount can uproot this honourable man.
