Thing is mate, Liverpool signed a few decent players without europe so that is not the be all and end all. Hell even Wjanaldum was waiting to come to us over them lot from what he said.

Personally the reason why we didn't sign any of them is because the money was not there. Perhaps the club put money forward for Perez and when that didn't come off then the purse went back in the cupboard so to speak as walsh had no-one else lined up. Thats if gabbiadani was just paper talk.

But i think Koeman would play with 2 if he had 2 to choose from. the emphasis is on the fact he doesn't have another striker to play, none of them are premier league quality. Except i guarantee we won't sell any of them in january or replace them whatsoever.
Wjanaldum is a midfielder.Strikers who can score consistently in the Prem are a rare and expensive breed.Without the lure of European competition all we could have offered is ridiculously high wages, and you can imagine what that could do to team spirit. You believe Koeman would play a two upfront (if he had another) all I can do is disagree,he want's players to close down at pace and Rom does precious little of that at any type of speed as it is.Think you have to put a lot down to our bad luck in getting a billionaire owner just as the rest of the Prem get a huge windfall.

e don't need a striker to score consistently either, we have a man we value at 70 million to do that. We need a striker who can just score a goal, which again none of the back ups can do in my eyes. even the likes of shane long, never going to score 20 plus goals or come near it but at least he can score when relied upon. that is what we need, kone is terrible and has no pace anymore, niasse not in squad and valencia stopped scoring a long time ago in this league.

you mention about paying high wages and team spirit right? We are paying Bolasie 90 grand a week, and he is no better than anyone we have at the club now never mind improving! What does that tell the likes of mirallas who have been here years? (BTW wjnaldum is an example of signing a decent player without europe who wanted to join).

And finally you have to factor in we didn't spend a penny of any tv money let alone owners new transfer funds money. so no, i don't believe there was ever any plan to improve the team, just sign some squad fillers so to speak and hope Koeman does all the work

On 31 August 2016, Valencia signed for Everton on a season-long loan, with the option of a permanent £14.5m move in the summer of 2017.
Oh no, surely that option won't be taken up :eek:
This has got to be bollocks?! Surely? Even if we accept the argument that Valencia was worth a punt (because, you know, everyone else turned us down) £14.5M, even in this insane market, is not the going rate for a third string striker who doesn't score goals (or pay child support, allegedly). I wouldn't pay £14.50 for him let alone £14.5M. God only knows what sort of a loan fee we paid for this waste of space.
