Valencia was available and either kenwright and co failed at convincing all these boss clubs to sell us boss players, or they didn't have a clue, shuffled some papers and got a phone call valencia loan could be sorted within an hour.

There is nothing about him that suggests koeman/walsh/kenright even would want him. injury prone, poor scoring record after his first 10 games, unwanted by west ham, you know the lot. It is the trademark hope and pray signing, except we did it so late it raises the question to me why him? He was available all summer and if we wanted him we could have signed him 3 weeks before that at least. So my theory is we failed at convincing porto/napoli/kiev/united to sell to us on the final day (which if true that is shockingly bad from kenwright and elstone) or we were never in for any of them, rode the paper talk and come half 7 grabbed the first player we could get done quickly and happily closed the window making a profit.....AGAIN.

and there is the root of your problem right there.

No striker with any sense of his own worth is going to settle for that.

Which is why we would be better taking the best young striker we have at the club and giving him a seat on the bench rather than someone like Valencia.

Except....new manager at the club, why wouldn't they play along side Lukaku? What genuine reason would you have to think you would never get a game signing in the summer seeing as though Koeman has played 2 strikers at southampton.

PErhaps we only play one so far because we literally have no-one else to come in and do anything worthy of dropping a midfielder?

I like to keep my conversational skills confusing.

What's also frustrating is players like Perez (who we were rumored to be interested in) go to Arsenal and are making very little impact, when perhaps he could have come to Everton and been something.

I am new to the Everton family and so glad to be. Definitely jealous of you local fans as I am from the States and will never have the connection and background that yall have.

I say this because I am also curious as to how the structure entirely works. Who is responsible for the ousting of Kenwright when apparently the majority of the fan base seem to find him as appalling as Oliver Cromwell.

that would take a long time to explain all of that haha

but you are spot on, perez at everton would have had a much better chance of shining compared to being a bit part player at arsenal. but sometimes oyu have to say fair enough, he was always going to choose them over us.

We dont have any worthy of being there right now.
That's a pretty shocking state of affairs for a Premiership side the size of Everton.

Is Carlvert-Lewin that far off being given a chance on the bench? After all Rashford only got his chance 8 months ago because Martial got injured in the warm up, scored twice and ended up going to the Euros!

they don't have to start instead of anyone. they are options for the manager. Koeman could play two up top, could play a pacy striker and look to hit teams on the break that sort of thing. does not mean signing a striker signals Luakaku is dropped and it does not mean by arriving here you aren't going to play.

so one we could afford instead of rom is going to be 50 million at going rates, one as an alternative to rom/including rom, perhaps mane before the kopites got him, One of the dutch based strikers spoke about, Praet as a more advanced player, Aweyu, zaza (crap but fancy name), Llorente, Gabbiadani, throw money at hernandez, Dost, Bacca and so on and so forth.

All strikers who were available and all ones that would provide more than the lot of our back up combined, plus some of those are options with rom not instead of him.
Can't really see Koeman setting up a team with two up front. He seems to prefer breaking with midfielders getting forward to support Rom.Must be he didn't fancy anyone on your list (or maybe he did and they were not interested) I think until we can offer at the very least EL we'll be stuck with the Valencia's of this world.Either that or we pay fortunes for a mercenary.

Thing is mate, Liverpool signed a few decent players without europe so that is not the be all and end all. Hell even Wjanaldum was waiting to come to us over them lot from what he said.

Personally the reason why we didn't sign any of them is because the money was not there. Perhaps the club put money forward for Perez and when that didn't come off then the purse went back in the cupboard so to speak as walsh had no-one else lined up. Thats if gabbiadani was just paper talk.

But i think Koeman would play with 2 if he had 2 to choose from. the emphasis is on the fact he doesn't have another striker to play, none of them are premier league quality. Except i guarantee we won't sell any of them in january or replace them whatsoever.

I mentioned in the youth teams thread ( and have done so a couple of times before) that there doesnt seem to be many young English forwards coming through these days....we have seen Rashford, Kane and to a lesser extent Berahino.

I dont know if this is due to a lack of quality in general or that clubs such as Chelsea have Solanke and Abraham but loan them out and they go the same way (or worse) as their other youth prospects.

Its good that we signed Calvert-Lewin, i wonder if we can bring in others like him and even approach Chelsea for some of their young lads if they just want to loan and sell later?

Think there is plenty but they are at the wrong clubs.

If they played at a club that could or at least would play them every week ala kane then you might see more breaking through.

Just look at chelsea, they have plenty but just loan them out or not at all, probably loads of talent there that another club could turn into a real player. Instead these players can't develop ala Bamford because they play for a new club on a yearly basis.

Yes, thats what i was alluding to. If you look at Solanke and Abraham, theyre both prominent players in the English youth sides but i cant see them getting a starting spot for chelsea or regular games.

If Chelseas game plan is to loan these types year on year then sell them surely it makes sense for us to make an offer for them now before they stagnate?

The same could be said about players coming through at other teams...i cant see Fosu Mensah being happy being in utd reserves when he was frequently their best defender in limited games last season (im aware hes Dutch).

Some players are premier league ready but dont get games and will stagnate...we should be in for these guys.
