What is worse? Having a load of crap back up strikers?

Or the fact that every back up striker we sign is crap? Like we are doing it on purpose to save a bit of money

Or that only crap strikers want to come to us, not even half crap seem that interested?
If we could sign two half craps and play them at same time we could have a decent option there...

Sadly as we only play with one, nobody decent will want to spend a season on the bench watching Rom.

We never pursue any. You have to believe essentially paper talk for Gabbiadini, if you don't then Valencia was the only one we realistically approached. It is almost like the club look at the squad and just say 'well rom is boss and we convinced him to stay, so just get any old striker in as back up and do it as cheap as possible'. I still genuinely think valnecia was only signed to get A player in, rather than a position or type, just heard he was available and just went for him instead.

Thing is, especially under koeman the option of another is a draw to most players. It is like austin going to saints, had others in front of him but still went to earn his place. The fact you have forgotten that is testament to how crap we are in terms of a squad, no back ups for anyone important so we are used to just assuming they won't want to play as a sub.

I get why kone, but rodriguez was crap even before we signed him, valencia crap before we signed him, niasse nobody seems to know but crap now at least. They were all cheap options as well, rather than invest in a player, just sign any old one for buttons. God forbid everton have a positive net spend!

If there is literally one thing you can say for certain about Niasse it is that he was not 'cheap'. Guy is going to cost us probably in excess of £30mil by the time he's out of here.

see was he though?

did we really sign a 13 million pound player, or did we sign a 4.5 million player but get suckered in by the club to pay the extra because they were making him out to be better than what he was? And as the club/manager/board were desperate to get someone in after the whole yarmalenko summer, gave in and paid the new asking price?

Whilst I understand and completely agree with your point (and even £4.5million is about £4.449million too much), the point still stands that he, in no way/shape/form, is not cheap. He is a drain on the club until his contract runs out. He's going absolutely nowhere.

How bad are striker options can be summed up by the fact I would have Anichebe back in a hearbeat over those 3 clowns!

Niasse, Kone, Valencia (loan terminated) should be shipped out on 1 Jan. £120k+ a week we are paying and getting nothing in return... embarrassing.

On 31 August 2016, Valencia signed for Everton on a season-long loan, with the option of a permanent £14.5m move in the summer of 2017.
Oh no, surely that option won't be taken up :eek:

Don't believe I've "forgotten" anything. It's just a fact that good strikers want to be starters and not a back-up.Can you name one who we could afford who you'd start before Rom? And it's a fact we can't offer CL or EL to at least give the chance of squad rotation.

they don't have to start instead of anyone. they are options for the manager. Koeman could play two up top, could play a pacy striker and look to hit teams on the break that sort of thing. does not mean signing a striker signals Luakaku is dropped and it does not mean by arriving here you aren't going to play.

so one we could afford instead of rom is going to be 50 million at going rates, one as an alternative to rom/including rom, perhaps mane before the kopites got him, One of the dutch based strikers spoke about, Praet as a more advanced player, Aweyu, zaza (crap but fancy name), Llorente, Gabbiadani, throw money at hernandez, Dost, Bacca and so on and so forth.

All strikers who were available and all ones that would provide more than the lot of our back up combined, plus some of those are options with rom not instead of him.

I agree with you, but our tight purse and inability to provide Champions league football doesn't seem to help.

As for the Valencia signing your spot on with that. It is so mind baffling though as to why sign a player for this reason, like hey we don't believe in you whatsoever. If this is the case then for FFS just bring up a young boy and get him some experience and grow the potential.

and there is the root of your problem right there.

No striker with any sense of his own worth is going to settle for that.

Which is why we would be better taking the best young striker we have at the club and giving him a seat on the bench rather than someone like Valencia.
