Also why on earth would Bony come to us to sit on the bench behind Lukaku? He may as well just stay at City if thats the case.

Fair point, mate. However, I could have seen Bony getting much more game time with us than at city. Besides, isn't it a foregone conclusion that he'll be playing in China next season?

anyway, just been speaking with my old man.

while I'm disappointed we didn't get more in, he's chuffed we haven't 'wasted' money on Sissoko and is delighted with the signings we've brought in.

Maybe from a perspective of somebody who isn't as obsessed with transfers and net spend as everyone on here (including me)
Fair point it's the million pound war chest annouced the reason Koeman was coming seemed like a slap in the face with a wet fish this am then the pathetic statement from the club over why they pulled out of it is a joke!
In reflection it's a good job we have started well !

Yeah he could have if Koeman fancied him and thought he would fit into the team. He obviously didnt so it was not an option.

I'm not saying he is a bad player or anything by the way.

China wouldn't shock me.

Again mate, it all depends on how Koeman wants to play.

Had we been linked to players similar to Bony in style, I'd agree 100%

The fact is we hadn't. Perez, Gabbiadini etc are nothing like Bony.

I hope you're right, I really do... but I think we're running the risk of relying too much on Lukaku. If he gets injured, we'll be up slack alley without a paddle.

I would like to think that we had targets and as we didnt get them (Only Sissoko and Perez went to another club) we are going to hold fire until next time where we can try again instead of picking up the next on the list (ie a lesser version of the player we wanted).

I'm happy with that.

well we'll have to see mate.

I'm not saying Bony isn't a better player than Valencia. My point is that IF the manager wanted him we'd have at least made our interest known with a firm bid - even a late one.

And tbh I think we'll be fine. Let's just enjoy the footy from now on

It shows how highly Slaven rates him if he is prepared to let Valencia come to Everton on loan.

We are in competition with Hammers for a Europa League spot and Bilic would not loan us a player he thought improved our chances.

On the other hand.....Slaven doesn't seem too bothered with the EL

Please tell me that you don't think that's a real statement Joey?
