Enner Valencia

You said Austin was first choice before he had started a game this season, he'd been on the bench!

You were trying to be clever, you were incorrect with Sky Bet.

Again, I'm expressing my opinion that Bony and Remy were decent realistic options. Why you keep picking me up for that, I have no idea. I've also said I would have started Bony next game and let him and Rom actually be competitive. Rom is sorely in need of a kick up the arse. Again, my opinion.

Austin had been first choice during pre-season... The Austin links came about before the first game.

And that wasn't my intention - trying to be clever. Apologies if it got taken the wrong way.

And fair enough if that's your opinion. It's my opinion that they wouldn't have been if they didn't fit the style of play that Koeman seemingly wants to go for (in Bony's case). I do like Bony and he's a good player, but I'm sure if Koeman wanted him we'd have at least made a move - or would have gone for a player in the same mould.

Still can't believe this is what we've ended up with as striker back-up. Kone fills me with more confidence.

Enner is probably one of the worse strikers in Europe. Complete panic buy, hopefully in January we amend this mistake by buying another striker and terminating his loan.

But probably a few Everton fans will have delusions of grandeur, after seeing 3 games of Niasse and think Valenica is any better.

Honestly don't believe he was even a 5th or 6th or 7th choice Striker signing before 6pm yesterday.

Good luck to him, but it's seriously worrying how low down our shortlist we must have gone last night. Id rather recruit from the Academy than bringing in bench warmers on big wages.

Enner Valencia won't fit his style because he's crap and I don't think he likes crap players

what wages is he on?

40k a week...

Like every true toffee, I wish him all the best and hope he does well for us. Unfortunately, there is no evidence to suggest he will... none whatsoever.

Whenever I've seen him, he has gone to ground easily and loses possession when in promising positions. Top that off with a poor injury record and it doesn't bode well. I would like to know who pursued this loan and the reasons why, because I can see no evidence why he would be a good signing for us, I really can't. Bony would have been a much more sensible signing, IMHO.

We should have been targeting remy or bony (or both) from the start if they were available for loaning. Getting one of them in early for pretty much nothing (they would have started the first game) would have caused less stress over the rest of the window trying to get a big money backup. Would have given us the chance to offload kone as well, but we've ended up with a west ham reject, we're a better team than west ham, it's just all a bit odd. Especially given the strikers they have injured at the moment as well, caroll always is, not quite sure what they got out of this move.

Why would we go for Remy? He was decent about 4-5 years ago. Since then he has had loads of injuries and some dubious personal things going on.

Valencia was brought in by Allardyce (I think..?) so may not suit Bilic's system. In the same way Remy and Bony may not suit ours.

You cant just go out and pick the best available player for a position and expect it to work. There is loads more to it than just that.

People think put way to much stock into how a player does at a previous club which I think is madness as there are so many variables.

Marcus Bent is a prime example. Was never the best player, was barely even good for most of his career but for Moyes and his system he just worked. Then he went out and brought in a much better player in Beattie with a better record for his former club yet it didnt work as he wasnt remotely suited to how Moyes was setting up his team.

Higher wages for Bony we had the Stones transfer to grab him if he was in Koemans mind?

Of course there is no evidence! he has never played for us!

Bony would have been a ridiculous signing seeing as Koeman likes to press from the front and Bony is a massive unit.

Also why on earth would Bony come to us to sit on the bench behind Lukaku? He may as well just stay at City if thats the case.

anyway, just been speaking with my old man.

while I'm disappointed we didn't get more in, he's chuffed we haven't 'wasted' money on Sissoko and is delighted with the signings we've brought in.

Maybe from a perspective of somebody who isn't as obsessed with transfers and net spend as everyone on here (including me)

Maybe, but would there have been a 1.5m loan fee involved? Whatever the cost, Bony would certainly have provided better cover for Lukaku in case of injury.

Again mate, it all depends on how Koeman wants to play.

Had we been linked to players similar to Bony in style, I'd agree 100%

The fact is we hadn't. Perez, Gabbiadini etc are nothing like Bony.

Its been said a few times now but I think its a fair comment... if we signed our 5 signings yesterday instead of earlier in the window everyone would be chuffed with our transfer activity.

Deadline day does funny things to people.
