He does seem to have something of the Nyarko about him.

Oh God, so he'll end up having a row with a fan, walking out in a strop and then returning to the fold when it dawns on him that no other suckers will be prepared to pay his inflated salary.

After that, I expect him to get a "pay as you play" deal at FC SomewhereinNorway

If this chap is suspect in the head, then we don't want him. I've seen him for Holland and thought highly of him. I reasoned that it would take a rather good player to get into the Dutch side, and one who has been more than a 'flash in the pan'. Maybe he is just that. Don't judge a book by its cover!

Engelaar

At least singing his name will be easy
as men you should know with age comes wisdom and maturity some
of the best lessons learn,t are mistakes maybe he was trouble in the
past but we all learn
the problem I have is recouping any of the transfer fee with his age
and all but if we win uefa cup + 4th spot we would say that its been
value for money
I think his agent is trying to bend his ear in our direction just hope hes no mate of vdm

I don't really want him as i believe we could get better in terms of age and ability, he seems a decent player but im not fussed if we get him or not, i trust Moyes.

I wouldn't be worried about recouping any transfer fee. If Moyes wants him and gets him, and we get three or four years of quality DMC play out of him that's value for money in itself.

He's not agile enough to play in the Premiership and doesn't put his foot in enough. Decent player, good on the ball tidy passer but much more suited to Germany and Holland than England.

I like the look of De Jong. He looks tenacious, puts his foot in, decent on the ball and always dropping deep and looking for it. Can play right back aswell from what I remember at Ajax.

He'd be a good player to have in the squad and he's Pienaar's best mate supposedly.

Agreed mate. He look's a good player and we were linked with him before?

Engelaar was one of the Dutch's best players last night until he was sacrificed for a more attacking option. I've watched him fairly closely during the tournament (partly coz I didn't have a jar of glue who he was until the first game) and he's done plenty to impress. He reminds me of Carsley, goes about his job without much fuss, covers defenders beautifully. He doesn't really look like he's got too many goals in him, but he would anchor the midfield just fine for me. I don't agree with a £6m valuation for a player with only a few caps for his country at age 28/29 though... I like De Jong, but I think he's not tall enough for what we need at this moment in time, although again, if the price was right, he would be a great addition (he's a Moyes-type player) as he can fill in at full-back, and would probably make the RB position his own in my opinion.

Engelaar looks a bit like John Carew?

I'd take him but I'm not 100% convinced. Some things I like and somethings I'm not sure on.

He doesn't look like a tackler to me. He seems to be a European style holding midfielder. Stands off, looks for interceptions and distributes well. His passing and technique look to be his best attributes which isn't suprising consdidering he used to be an attacking midfielder/striker.

I think he's got the attributes to make it here but he would need time to adapt to the English game.

Completely different to Carsley which is a good thing more of an all rounder whis is what should be looking for.

I still remain very sceptical at the possibility of Engelaar signing for Everton. Granted he had a great time at Twente and did allright for Holland during Euro 2008. I however, have watched him quite a lot when he was playing for KRC Genk in Belgium.

First season there went quite well, but after that he just didn't look interested anymore and like I've said before had a really bad bodylanguage. He was demoralising the teamspirit over there and often showed complete lack of respect for club, teammates and supporters.

Off course, I don't know if it was entirely down to Engelaar but I still have my reservations over him since that time. That time however is a few years back now and maybe he's matured and sorted his problems out. If Moyes decides he wants him, I'll be more than prepared to give him a chance. But Ipersonally hope he'll go for someone else.

What about De Jong, would you like to see him at Everton?

He's impressed me in Euro 2008. Really come on since his Ajax days and looks an accomplished centre midfielder.

Another reason why i don't want to sign this shitbag.

Over rated

Dutch, from the Dutch games so far, I have not been overly impressed with Engelaar either. He had a good first game, but since then, he loses possession a lot and his distribution ain't that great either. I would much rather have Huddlestone - the guy has proven ability and would slot perfectly into Cars' position.

Im agreeing with Toxteth and Cal on this one, I'd much rather have de Jong than Engelaar.

for what de Jong lacks in height, he makes up for it with commitment, hard work and has that controlled nasty streak in him.

would love de Jong here.
