I'd disagree still. Osman had some moments. Hibbert less but defenders defend. And he was ok at that for quite a while.
Osman had more than just 'some moments'. His best days are now quite a few years in the past, but he has/had a wonderful football brain, one of the few players capable of a killer pass, not to mention chipping in with many vital goals.

He seems to split opinions because some people seem to hate him personally. Fine, but that has no bearing on him as a footballer. He's been a really good, nay great, player for Everton, and anyone claiming otherwise is talking rot.

You're basically agreeing with me.

He's a kopite little grass. And that needs remembering.
Like I say, that has absolutely no bearing on his on-pitch abilities and performances.

Frankly, I've no idea what this 'grass' business is all about, no perhaps I'm seeing it from a position of bliss ignorance.

Me neither. Something to do with his book? Never bothered with it myself.

I can't wait to go the match and not have that niggling worry that Oswoman is going to be selected to 'run' around like a snail in treacle getting knocked off the ball by 7 year old ballet dancing girls.

I'm the same, he's been good for us overall, but there's nothing worse with one sub left, than seeing him warm up and you know Deulofeu, Mirallas or someone exciting will not be getting on.

To be fair, that was less his fault than the clown picking him to come on ahead of those players...

The way his career has gone is unfortunate because he could have been a fantastic player, but if we are striving for the top then we really need to be binning Gibson off.

He's just not worth a weekly wage to be unavailable for 75% of the season.

I agree, he's not the future - But i think with McCarthy and Besic incapable of playing a few games in a row without getting injured, and Barry close to pension, we need depth in the middle and to bin off Gibson would only mean shelling out more money for someone un-tried and in need of game time to be ready to come into the team when needed.

The solution to having 2 injury prone midfielders wouldn't be to keep hold of a 3rd injury prone midfielder. I expect Koeman will identify central midfield as a key area to strengthen, and I don't think we need to worry about shelling out for it (for once!)

I expect a couple of signings, with a view to building our midfield around Barkley.

Hibbert and Osman, please God give me this. Both should have been thrown out the club in 2009 but it's taken an extra 7 years to finally see the back of them.

Piienaar great player for us loved watching him and baines ... osman solid but bang average never going to be great with him good servant though ... hibbert been given a luxury life past 5 years but good to have round the squad i guess.... gibson i think still could do a good job only player who really plays forward apart from barry but the amount of games he has missed is a joke and probably not worth it need a fresh start but need to keep core of the team etc baines jags coleman

Get Rid:
Howard (Release)
Hibbert (Release)
Mattioni (Release)
Gibson (Release)
Osman (Release)
Pienaar (Release)
McGeady
Oviedo
Kone
McAleny

I'd like to see us offload Cleverley, Lennon and Niasse too. However, losing that many players from the squad would be too much in such a short space of time, so wait until January before re-assessing.

If we kept Stones & Lukaku (massive IF!), then that would leave us with:

SQUAD

Robles

Coleman
Baines
Garbutt

Jagielka
Stones
Funes Mori
Galloway

McCarthy
Barry
Besic
Cleverley
Barkley

Mirallas
Deulofeu
Lennon

Lukaku

TOTAL: 17

Youth:
Kenny (RB)
Pennington (CB)
Browning (CB)
Davies (CM)
Dowell (RW/ LW)

TOTAL: 22

Then down to the new gaffer where we strengthen, but I would like to see us bring in:

GK
RB
CM
LW
FC

*checks watch* Killed a bit of time if nothing else... :coffee:
