We do need a real spring clean. There are quite a number of players on the books who no longer figure in the first team plans. I have no issue with players who have something to contribute being moved over onto the coaching staff, but at coaching staff wages commensurate with the jobs they do.
We can free up a significant amount of money to pay wages to players who will contribute to the first team.
I don't hold with this turning on players, people like Hibbert, Pinnear and Osman gave their best, some may not had a lot to give but they were committed to the club. If every player we put on the field gave the same effort as Hibbert then we may not be in the bottom half.

I'd disagree still. Osman had some moments. Hibbert less but defenders defend. And he was ok at that for quite a while.
Defenders at Premier League level are supposed to defend well, I don't think Hibbert ever defended anywhere near Premier League level. He was quite rightly slaughtered for being awful for years until it became a running joke about how bad he was and he became this cult/joke figure. Osman admittedly had a few moments. The Larissa goal, some showings in 04/05 and the Man City goal a few years back spring to mind but certainly nothing to justify keeping him this long.

I'll be honest, that's certainly not how I remember it at all. For me and pretty much every Evertonian I've had a conversation with, Hibbert was seen as a decent, albeit limited, player and a good pro. The fact he's local and a one club player might add a bit of affection. The 'shooooot' chants never felt like he was a joke figure at all.

We must of spoken to a very different collection of fans then as nearly every blue I know at the match used to despair of him until it became obvious that he was going nowhere and the shoot chants started, which gained him some support.

Hibbert is probably the full back at the club when it comes to defending. In his brief appearance this season he stopped more crossed than the others have combined since August. He's no use in the modern game but I'd never say he was awful.

He needs to go.

And Osman.

If the manager renews their contracts I will be very displeased.

Not in the squad.

If he does he needs to contribute. We aren't a charity.

We shouldnt be paying hangers on.

We've had enough of that with Bill Kenwright

I know ye he won't get a new deal as a player. Hopefully all the deadwood gets out and replaced with some class..
Excited to see what our squad will be like when the window closes.

There's not a chance that any of Osman, Hibbert, Gibson or Pienaar should get a new deal, they were so anonymous last season you could get rid for a start and you wouldn't notice they'd gone. No time for sentimentality with the new owner and manager I hope.

Release McGeady on a free if need be. Someone will give us a million for Kone I'm sure, and if Niasse has any suitors in Russia he can go back for whatever, just get him off the wage bill and remove what is effectively Martinez's lingering fart.

Mattioni and McAleny can both go too.

There's 9 and you'd miss none of them.
