nah for me, jags only turned it around after half the season was gone.

Stones, McCarthy ahead of him by far for me.

McCarthy didn't get going for a while too.

That was my logic for Stones; he was the only player to play well through our bad form and good form, with only injury stopping him.

But all the players voted for Jags too. That shows the influence he's had and suggests a lot of confidence in him as a captain, and a player.

McCarthy wasn't at his best, but he never let us down.

Jags did let us down more than either of those two, when he had a bad day.

Jagielka was crap over the Christmas and January period, especially as a captain. When there were clearly issues between the players and the team badly needed leadership he was nowhere to be seen.

Fair points. I raised issues myself, about him as a captain. But I'm hopeful the past few months have shown that he's growing into the role.

I don't think he will ever become a on the pitch leader, just isn't him.

He must do something behind the scenes or we just had a serious lack of leaders at the time, but i think he'd actually benefit from not being captain at all and just focusing on his own game.

Totally wasnt following this tonight but out for a curry with some RS mates and they reckon that Jagz is genuinely underrated within the Prem. I had to agree with them for once, then they started on about some random [Poor language removed] so I switched off !!

I thought this as well. Captains don't have to scream and shout all the time though, it should be said.

Who'd be a better captain though? McCarthy and Stones, looking ahead, could be brilliant captains. But I think they're too young right now.

Stones or McCarthy would be great.

Can't be too young to be a captain if you are starting every week in the first team.

Natural leaders lead from any age .

Disagree. I think regardless of ability, older players can't fully respect ones who are 20 years of age. McCarthy maybe, but Stones is just too young.

That said, Stones still leads on the pitch, don't get me wrong. He's a natural leader indeed. But not experienced enough to be the actual captain of the team.

Think the likes of Keane and Terry were captains same age as McCarthy.

And I disagree with you regarding older players not respecting younger ones as captain
